Chucky Mama
YS's prized ipod touch 32gb is now very clean but sadly well and truly broken. Has anyone had any joy getting a water damaged ipod repaired. Apple quote £177 to repair them there
Sam
Apples prices are rediculous to fix things... they always charge way over the odds so you may as well buy a new one Sorry don't know how to fix it... hair dryer?!
Clur
Try contacting www.scancom.co.uk - they do repairs and have a good reputation.
Reikiranf
Never had an ipod but DS left a creative zen mp3 in his pocket and it went through a full wash cycle including 1600 spin, I left it in the conservatory to dry out for a few days & was amazed to find that it still worked
snowberry
Don't try and turn it on!!!!! Give it a week to dry somewhere warm.
scarlettohara
Expect it was your fault
Chucky Mama
Expect it was your fault Thankfully it wasn't..phew! He does his own laundry and didn't check his pockets. I am so glad it wasn't me. I cracked the screen on his fake Rolex watch last year that didn't go down very well. I was so glad when he finally lost it as it got me off the hook
Sheilaz
A mobile phone can be rescued by a week in an airing cupboard, so it's worth a try. Not a quick fix, nor definite, but a good first option if patience holds out. Good luck, its so easily done.
PurpleTree
Put it in a bag of rice, that's what's advised for iPhones so presumably it's the same for iPod touch's. Hope it works
The Dogmother
Fingers crossed that you get it sorted; doesn't bear thinking about how grumpy he'll be without it R once lost hers and was unbearable until she found it.. it was my fault of course
Olly
I was going to suggest the rice as well - worth a try.
quickcluck
I was going for rice too, think it's lengthy but effective!
Patricia W
The company that makes machine washable electronic equipment will make a fortune! I'd go for rice as well
whoopsie
Rice? I'm fascinated. Why?
The Dogmother
It dries things out - it's used in salt shakers to keep the salt running freely and free from damp
LuckyChickenLover-
Rice? I'm fascinated. Why? It absorbs the water

Chucky Mama
Well, YS ended up earning some cash and buying himself a second hand ipod touch off eBay (only an 8gb this time). We have just sold the damaged one on eBay for £51 - we did sell it on eBay a few weeks ago (for £46) but the buyer refused to pay as he made a mistake and thought he was bidding for an iphone (fool ) Amazingly we sold the empty box separately for £12.50 So, don't throw away your damaged ipod/iphones or boxes as they can earn you some money
Cinnamon
Good grief....really? I chucked out 2 last week,in a cleaning up frenzy

Geoid
Damaged ipods are often used for spare parts, so you can earn a few quid off them. Boxes are often used to sell other ipods, as I think they get a higher price with the box etc (I dont know why)
Cinnamon
T'was a couple of boxes I chucked out.....any damaged electronics I can't sell goes on Freecycle.
sadietoo
We have bought a few i-pods now from the apple reconditioned site..right hand corner of Apple site page.. Always very good, and inevitably end their life either being lost/stolen or waterlogged by DS..he forgets to take them out of his pockets before recovering beaching dinghys . I had no idea the boxes are worth anything at all...will have a bit of sort out and see if I can sell any!!
Henchanted
...Boxes are often used to sell other ipods, as I think they get a higher price with the box etc (I dont know why) I believe they are used to sell stolen ipods to give them credibility
