Safe to eat?

Recommended Posts

I feel a bit of a twit asking this question  But, in the spring I had a bucket of fresh chicken poo that I would normally have put on the compost heap. but as I was digging over my empty vegetable bed at the time I just threw this poo on the soil and dug it over. I planted my veg and everything is now coming up a treat. I am concerned though that the fresh chicken poo could have contaminated the plants. What do you think?

As far as I know the only problem you could come ascrossis that the poo is too strong to use neat on the soil and it can damage the plants if it is not composted first.

It make a fab compost activator and has loads of nitrogen. Makes fab huge veggies.

Enjoy!

I have heard not to put it direct onto flower beds but compost it first, but for veg its ok to use straight from the chicken as it were! seems to be working for me.
