I have no experience with either, but it seems like you've been waiting ages to get a new house! Is it nearly time?

But go with what you really want. Say if you got a maggie and got red mite you couldn't get rid of it, I'm sure you'd be kicking yourself for not getting a cube. Same like if you got a cube and didn't like the looks of it and wish you got a wooden house.

But personally I'd spend the extra and get a cube :D

Yes it been ages. I feel like I've been right around the houses - my OH is not at all handy, so anything has to be easy to fit etc, plus we have a sloping plot & 3 very demanding boys that seem to divert our attention for sitting down & making decisions !!

I suppose the issue is I love both wood & plastic, so I need to do some soul searching. (but soon as I really want it done by Autumn)

I feel guilty looking at the cube as Anne from Flyte so Fancy has been so good answering all my questions.

Of course if I went for the cube I'd have to pick a colour too !!!!! Argh !!!!

Where is the best place on here to see pictures of cubes with omlet runs on rather than large WIRs ?

I agree! Yes the wooden houses look good but for how long? At least if you get a cube you can rest assured it will still look great in years to come. I had a wooden house and couldnt cope with the endless task of keeping it red mite free. I love my cube and find it a million times easier to clean than my wooden house. Hope you reach a decision soon. I understand it must be so hard, especially if you prefer the look of the wooden house. :?

I honestly wouldn't spend that much money on something I hadn't seen for real. I'd want to get my hands on both, have a good old fiddle and then decide which one I prefered. Different people have different requirements/likes/dislikes so you're really the only one who can make up your mind.

Don't be put off by the red mite/coop maintenance argument against wooden housing.

I have a wooden coop and do not worry about 'endless red mite prevention'. My RM prevention consists of regular late night checks with a torch to see if there are any of the little blighters crawling around and a good wipe round perch ends etc when I do a clean out. Hardly a chore! And so far (touch wood, if you will pardon the pun) I have not had any RM in my coop.

Maintenance is also dead easy. FSF sell an excellent product called Hydrosol Cle"Ooops, word censored!"aler. I have just treated my Forsham Ark with this. One or two coats applied once a year is all you need to do and it's probably a 1/2 hour job - just slap it on with a paintbrush!

Go with whatever you really like the look of and you think will look best in your garden. If you prefer the look of wood, go for it! If you prefer the look of the cube, go for that.

It looks like the Maggie 9ft run is in addition to the space under the coop so that gives you extra space

I agree with Jools though, go and take a look at them up close before making a decision, there is a list on here of cube and Eglu owners happy to have people over for a look-see
