Lewis
I decided I wanted to be a Vet (still do) so chose Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and General Studies ... worst mistake ever! I hated Physucks, failed Maths, failed Chemistry and nearly retook my Lower VI year. Instead I picked up Business Studies (liked it at GCSE) and loved it - ended up being my best grade! Kind of wish I'd done Geography now too. Basically, yes look at what Uni's want, but also choose things you like doing and are good at, at GCSE. I think 6 A Levels is too many and you'd struggle to fit them all in. I didn't get the A2 grades I wanted at all but I did have quite a lot of Work Experience - I got an Unconditional offer and Merit Award (£1000) to do Animal Science at Uni so it does help for something! (God I sound old! ) I loved Nottingham Vet School, have stayed there for a couple of weeks and am still dreaming about post-grad Vet School ... Good luck! The Dogmother
Good luck with whatever you decide, there's some sterling advice here. Speaking from the other end of the cycle; I work for a specialist firm which employs a lot of solicitors and barristers (although it's not a law firm as such). We get literally tons of graduates applying for internships with us, and that's in a specialist area. I also know that loads of law graduates are finding it hard to get into firms for training. The child of a colleague is part way through their degree and has been doing unpaid holiday work for a city law firm; they have just been offered a sponsorship by this firm to help them complete their degree and the promise of a job afterwards While your graduation is way down the line from now, it's something worth bearing in mind; law degree courses are oversubscribed at the moment and there will be a heck of a lot of grads looking for placements when they leave. Same up here. I have heard of a number of graduates with diplomas who just cannot get traineeships. So sad after all that hard work
