Miele washing machine

Recommended Posts

FInd out tomorrow if my trusty 13 year old Bosch is worth repairing so I wondered if anyone had bought a Miele in the last few months and if so which model.

If it's not worth repairing it will be the third expensive thing to go wrong for us in a matter of weeks :( First was central heating pipes being in the way for the new woodburner and the second is a small leak somehwere on the ground floor in the central heating pipes. If we can't find it by going under floorboards or there are loads of little leaks the only other solution appears to be new pipewrok coming down from the upstairs radiators :(

I haven't got a new one, but I do have an 8 year old one that has never given me a moment of trouble *looks for some wood to touch* The washing machine repair man recommended that I should buy one when he came out to repair my 18 month old Zanussi for the 3rd time. He said that even with the heavy usage that my family of 5 would give it, the machine should last for 15 years, and so far so good. :D

I bought a Meile W3204 after my trusty machine of 20 years finally bit the dust. I am very pleased with it. It came with a 10 year guarantee but I am reliably told that they continue to look after customers well for years after. It takes a decent load but not one so large that if I am using my tumble drier it can't take it in one go. I doesn't have any gimmicky features, I did look at a machine that takes bulk amounts of washing detergent so that you don't have to fill it up all the time but that sort of thing doesn't really appeal to me. This Meile does have a decent Express wash and a good range of simple, easy to use wash options which suits me as I am not good a reading instructions

Next Wed I have a Miele W5964 arriving to replace my 8 year old ASKO which is dying and no longer manufactured. The Miele costs a pretty penny but I have a Miele dishwasher which has never had to be repaired in 13 years. I'm hoping for a similar success!

They have a 10 year free guarantee on offer at the moment for this machine.

We have a Bosch washing machine which is wonderful and 8 years old. Our dishwasher is Miele and about 10 years old. Miele's head office is in our town so we can always get a good deal but we decided not to buy Miele washing machine because the cost differential between it and Bosch was ridiculous. May be different now though but worth doing the sums.

Our old Bosch was bad news! It never got anything really clean and I had it repaired twice in 7 years. Then bought a Miele and absolutely fabulous. Will take up to 7kg on certain programs and has a MARVELLOUS program that you can put anything (almost!!) in and the individual item will be washed to its specfic requirements...didn't believe it could work when we bought it...very sceptical...but technology or something makes it come true. The only thing I wish I had on it is a timer but I think that was another at least £100 at the time.

Thanks everyone :) We have a Miele dishwasher and fridge freezer. Anway, the programme control k"Ooops, word censored!" is still usable as are the brushes but when either go I'll get a new machine as the control k"Ooops, word censored!" section is £240  Knowing our luck we'd pay £60 for the brushes to be done and then the control k"Ooops, word censored!" will go. Fingers crossed it will last for a while yet.

Margalot, out of interest which Bosch did you get? Washer repair man also rates LG's at the moment but some of those are Miele prices. Should say he rates them even though he doesn't have to repair them often-lol

We have a Miele tumble dryer...(Which Best Buy etc will never ever rely on them again and have cancelled our subscription :( )...It drives me absolutely insane, whoever devised the programmes on it has clearly never tried to dry a mixed load of washing  Unfortunately because it will no doubt be ultra ultra reliable it will never die on me and I will be stuck with it for the rest of my life

I hope I am not tempting fate here...but, we have a Miele Novotronic 360 (name makes it sound dated!) I have just been to check and we bought it from John Lewis in November 2001 as I still have the very out of date 5 year guarantee that came with it in the price. I seem to recall it being the most expensive kitchen Item I had ever bought- possibly still to this day. I think it was about £850.!! It has been worth it's weight on gold alone and has never been repaired in 10 years in spite of much dirty rugby kit every week. The digital display has never failed. I would recommend Miele on the strength of this alone. However we also have a Miele dishwasher. Both are very quiet and I have been very impressed. No previous washing machine had lasted longer than 4 or 5 years tops and even then had needed help.

Not sure if this is helpful or not but my Mum has just replaced her Bosch washer with a Hoover - which she doesn't recommend as its noisier than she expected. She'd not had a good time with Bosch washers, going through 2 in about 10 years. We looked at Miele, but they were pricey, tho my Miele vacuum is great. The shop recommended LGs which were in the Miele price bracket. Apparently they use drive belt technology or something (wasn't really listening, washing machines so aren't my thing!) which is sooper-dooper (but can't remember if that is for speed/quietness or efficiency or maybe all 3!)

We bought our Miele about 4 years ago and it has been fine which I needed because I was using cloth nappies at the time (on our daughter, not me personally!) so it has had heavy useage. Our tumble dryer is Bosch and is useless, I wish I'd bought a Miele.

Well washing machine started playing silly beggars this morning ie it's no idea what programme it's on and is spinning or taking in water for a pre wash when it shouldn't so I've been out and bought a Miele 3204. As ususal spent more than I was planning to but hey ho. Shop are delivering when I want on Friday plus taking away the old machine at no extra cost.

We've just bought the Miele W3204 too! (Well, a few months ago.)

I think it is brilliant and very quiet. I insisted that we get a Miele as I wash cloth nappies too, and my little boy has eczema so I need his clothes to be very clean and well rinsed.

My father has a Bosch, which I never thought got things all that clean, though he seems happy with it.

We had a pile of pants Hoover washing machine before, which I inherited with 'him indoors'. It really didn't wash well, didn't rinse well, things always got stuck under the door glass and trapped detergent and it was as noisy as a toddler! He seemed attached to it and didn't want to replace it. I was ecstatic when the door finally came off in my hand

That's good to know :) Must admit I'm excited about it which I suppose is really sad..... and LOL at you being ecstatic when the door fell off. Did you help it along  Sure DH thinks I've broken this programme k"Ooops, word censored!" accidentally on purpose
