Strange question

Recommended Posts

About age.....

I am 24 years old and i am the only 24 year old that i know of/heard of that keeps chickens!

I just wondered if that is a young age to have chickens and constantly dream of walk in runs etc! I am a country girl which i think allows for some of my obsession.....i know age is usually a very sensitive subject for ladies so i wont ask ages and dont expect anyone to tell the world how old they are...but my question is...

What is the average age of an omlet enthusiast?!

I think it would be very interesting to determine one way or another!

Either way....i love my chickens and if i could encourage the OH to build me a WIR i would defo have a lot more!

Xx

Thats brilliant news! I'm chuffed i'm not the only person in their 20's! Its great to see that people have also found chickens after having children too......my 3 girls are my children at the moment!

Luckily the OH is happy for me to be spending my (his/our) money on the chooks rather than going out/buying clothes etc!

Also love trying to live a bit more self sufficiently - start as i mean to go on!

:) keep it coming guys!

I will be 63 in a few months. I have wanted chickens since I was a little girl, used to collect the eggs on my Great Grandfathers farm when we visited every year. Learned this summer that chickens were allowed in my town and have had chickens since August. Chicken keeping is something young and old can enjoy. Enjoy your chickens!

I'm 16 and had the chickens for a year now :D

Took me a while to persuade the parents to let me keep chickens but now everyone loves them ;) !

 How brilliant!

I'm 37 and have had my girls 3 years now. :D Had some at home when growing up and have always been adament that as soon as I had somewhere with a decent garden I'd have chickens. Ended up buying my childhood home off my divorcing parents with my OH. :anxious: So chooks were a priority. OH kept saying no  - no chickens until one christmas when he led me up the garden in my dressing gown blindfolded to a set up run & Chicken house!!:shock: I burst into tears I was so happy

I was straight in and on the computer putting myself down for 3 ExBatts (the limit according to the OH)....and it kinda snowballed from there.......Have 11 now :lol:

I'm 27 and have been with my partner Sally who got chickens a month before we got together, and we've been together 2 and a half years So I was 24/25ish when we started keeping chickens. She had two, then we got 3 more when one died, and now we're back down to 2. But we've just built a WIR today and soon we hope to get another 4-6 (4 if my OH has her way, 6 if I do / rock paper scissors? :)) I'd never even considered chickens as pets before I got together with Sally, now I'd have as many as could fit in the garden, I love them to bits and would do anything for them.

But I am 27, my partner is 35. But good question :) all the best.

I'm 22, have 9 chickens, and all the girls in the office think I'm a strange old woman who never goes out on the office parties (because I'm skint and the only one who doesn't still live at home with bills to pay etc etc...)

Sigh!

No need to sigh! Same here always skint from living in our own house and all of my money going on the animals...but hey..at least our livers will be thankful!

LOVE that there have been so many responses! I used to hate chickens when i was younger....didnt like their boney bodies..but that all changed when i looked after a sick one that got trodden on by a horse when i was younger and from then on wanted them! Thank god Omlet invented the eglu as otherwise don't think i would have convinced my OH to allow me :P

But now i am addicted to Omlet products, i now want a !beehaus purple! But dont think the neighbours will be too chuffed seeing as we are in a 3bed semi!

I'm 17 (18 in January  ) and I've had chickens for nearly 3 years now. They are very much my chickens, I do all the work (including cuddling) and I kindly share the eggs with the rest of my family :P

I think they'll be one of the things I miss most when I go to uni next year and I'll definitely be getting more as soon as I settle down in my own home again :)
