The Dogmother
Thanks MollyRipkim, that's a big help. You can get car stickers which say "All Dogs in this vehicle are microchipped and neutered". I have one on my vehicle, and all the money goes to the charity. Alis girls
It is an awful case and I must say DM I would hate being followed like that. I dont own dogs - only moggies and think if I ever get a dog it will be a mutt something which no one will want to nick. Very sick people around hope he gets found soon. surfer_chicken
So terrible I can't even begin to imagine how they're feeling. I hope he turns up soon and in good health. A friend of ours keeps rescued grey hounds and is often heavily questioned on walks by strangers about whether they are neutered, how old they are etc. definitely not your normal small talk questions. ClaireG
This had made me really sad to Posted on Twitter yesterday and will do again today. Also alerted my Auntie who lives in Verwood and walks her dogs in the forest and she was going to tell all at her work and put a poster up. Chortle Chook
Unfortunately hairy lurchers are at a premium at the moment as a 'must have' pet quite apart from their coursing appeal Like you, I suspect that the theives are after a ransom as they will realise he is not very saleable once they see he is neutered. Thank goodness he is microchipped as most societies will have a microchipp reader. You probably know these various organisations but they might have heard something in the horrid case that he might have been bussed out of othe area. Lavenders_Blue
I have reposted this on Facebook - on the Animal Helpline Dog Rescue page. I hope that there will be people in the group who are in the area or with relatives in the area who can display the DogLost poster.
mollyripkim
Dogmother, the car stickers are a good idea too, anything as a deterrent although I never leave mine in the car for any reason, my car crate has a lock but I wouldn't trust it - if they can get into the car they that would be no obstacle. Looking forward to some positive news.
The Dogmother
I also always have the central locking ON when I am in the car - old habit from living in London, but I heard not long ago of someone whose lurchers were stolen from their boot while the car was stationary at traffic lights. Still no news this morning; they are taking posters into local schools - children find it hard to keep quiet about secrets and the plan is to tour local 'dog testing sites' this weekend and get talking to some of the 'sorts' thereabouts in the hope that the offer of a reward will bring him back... no questions asked

The Dogmother
I suspect that he will be hand fed roast chicken for supper, and his mum will be sleeping beside him tonight. I've been dancing aroudn the office and crying with joy
Space Chick
What a fantastic relief I hadn't posted before now as really didn't know what to say, but I am so delighted for the family, it must have been hell when he was missing. The Dogmother
A message just in from his mum: Thank you so so so so much everyone for your thoughts and good wishes. He's back home now, Willow was dancing and prancing and licking when she saw him. He went out and did a big wee, very strong. He dived straight into water bowl. He's had a meal and charged round the garden like a puppy. He was being kept in an outdoor pen on concrete, with no bedding or heat in someone's back garden. He's even skinnier than before. He's exhausted and going to have the fire lit for him to settle down in his favourite basket infront of it. Will put more info later. Some very happy humans and happy pooches this afternoon Think his dog lost posters will be used as fire kindling

Egluntyne
Fantastic news. Presumably someone will be facing charges?
The Dogmother
That has been brought up. I don't know the circumstances of his theft just yet, but I guess that once he's settled in, they will press charges. The police were less than helpful though. Chortle Chook
What a massive relief It still sends shudders down my spine however. Golly how frightened and bewildered my pampered critters would be if they had to spend a night without heat or bedding. Thank goodness last night was not as cold as tonight will be.
