Sainsburys

Recommended Posts

We have been having problems with Sainsburys online orders for quite a while. Our first order arrived but with a few things missing. they gave us money off vouchers which have arrived, our second order came with 17 things missing. The woman who delived it was very aplogetic and she wasnt the one who packed it.

I mean don't get me wrong i do like Sainsburys and shop there most saturdays but i just wish they would pack things and double check.

Oh I share your pain! I've always shopped at Sainsburys and have ordered my weekly shopping online with them for the past 7 years. Over the last few months they have steadily got worse when it comes to 'missing items'. They used to put things with a short shelf-life in a blue bag so you could decide whether you wanted them or not but they seem to have stopped doing it? :shameonu: Often I end up with food that has a 'use by' date of the next day! :x

I gave up with Tesco - their substitutions were terrible (always substituting with family sized items and there's only two of us!) and they never could stick to their time slot. We were unable to get Sainsbury's delivery in our area so tried Ocado and they've been fabulous! 99% of the time they're right in the slot, or sometimes they're early but always phone beforehand to see if you're in and it's ok, and very rarely any items substituted. They also sell lovely Waitrose products (but price match a lot to Tesco) but I hate food shopping and we do live round the corner from a Waitrose store!

We use Sainsburys now and have been really pleased with them - they still put short shelf life items in a blue bag and the driver always checks its ok. Perhaps it varys between stores or after you've used them for a while they stop trying as hard which would be a shame. I do wish they'd price match like other supermarkets though as a couple of times i've wanted 200g of something and they've given me 2x 100g which always works out a lot more expensive.

I originally used Sainsburys and had terrible trouble with them turning up late and having odd substitutions. I used Tesco for a while but they were just as bad. I now use Ocado and they're brilliant, they always come within the time slot (even in the snow last year) and will ring if they are early to see if its ok to deliver. :D

My experience of Sainsbury's online was bad too. I have used Ocado for a while, and they are usually very reliable with few substitutions and those that they make are sensible. I think the problem is that Sainsbury's comes from your local store, so they are much more likely to have stuff missing. Ocado comes from a large warehouse and they rarely run out of stock. They are a bit more expensive, but then again, I don't have to pay either the petrol to get to a supermarket, or spend my time doing the shopping - thinking of it like that, they are actually good value.

My Mum used to use Tesco and by and large they were good, but that was a few years ago, before she passed away.

I use Ocado, pay @£120 per year for all of my deliveries..can have as many as I want (max one per day, minimum spend £40), so it saves me heaps of time, petrol money and money as I am not tempted into offers that you see instore, although they do have their own offers. Also, we get free samples (last weeks one was a litre of orange juice)...don't get that in the supermarkets. So, with the weather forecast ahead, I have just whipped in an order for tomorrow to top up on milk etc, very handy!

Personally i don't shop on line with any of the supermarkets. ( i prefer to go out and choose my own groceries and i get some exercise no matter how long it takes me to get around the store)

My DD's do shop and have moaned on many occasions about the substitutes and quality of the veg or use by date on meats and dairy products .The late deliveries and poor delivery time slots.

The big grumble this week is that they can't get a delivery slot for christmas! It seems to be worse from Tescos.

This is an issue with most online shopping systems, not just sainsburys. Asda have left me without items, and the person who is packing my stuff often has no idea about anything. One time before i got the chooks, they packed a dozen free range eggs in with 5 bags of flour. Guess what happened to those.

It's annoying that they won't replace the items you bought. The whole idea of online shopping is that you don't have to go to the shop to do it, and you pay for that privilege. Giving money back would be fine if it didn't mean I'd have to trek out to the shop to get the blooming item when I ordered the shop online for a reason!

I use Ocado - I am a bit biased as the OH drives for them!

But I think they are the best i've used. Plus their food is never hanging around in a shop, it is delivered to their warehouse and most goes out to customers the same day - so it is very fresh. It is kept in the temperature appropriate to the individual items on the van and is not left alone on trolleys in the shop getting warm - whilst it's being picked. Yes - they have problems from time to time - but on the whole they are really good!

I won't order online from Sainsbury's because it comes from our local store which is a nightmare. I'm fed up complaining that they have no bread etc at 5pm after work (it's a superstore  ) and just don't go anymore.

We also fell out with Tesco after they delivered my shopping with a bottle of bleach underneath 8 tins and it leaked (fancy that??) and ended up all over my living room carpet.......

That whole 'we pick everything as if it were our own shopping' line is absolute bull, isn't it.

Ocado works for us too. Only use them once every couple of months aprox, to stock up on the big heavy or bulky stuff, but deliveries are mostly complete, and the odd exchange has been fine.

Have tried Te$co's and Sainsbugs, but happier with Ocado. I also prefer their website for ordering as well, and their delivery charges for slots which are fine for me but useless to many others are very cheap too!

At my work,if there are more than 3 items that we cannot provide, the order has to go to a manager to be looked at,even if subs are available, just to make sure stupid mistakes don't happen.

...............................And we have to pack with very great care too.

I like working on deliver..it is like being paid for going shopping 8)

My daughter is doing late night (until 3am) 'picks' for delivery next week,my own order being one of them.

The whole team is under strict instructions that I get everything I have ordered,or else there will be trouble!
