New Year. Like/hate/any resolutions?

Recommended Posts

Happy New Year everyone and Many Happy Returns DM :D

I had resolved to take up Nordic Walking again this year (and suffer the ridicule) , but weather so foul today not likely to even fit in an ordinary walk...my other resolutions are to take up some new hobbies..I fancy bell ringing..(don't ask me why, just always have!) and joining a choir...(although not one for which I would have to audition, because I would never get in!!).

After early morning appointment at the vets have spent the morning cleaning Conservatory of pine needles and chicken poo, having removed convalescing hen out into spare eglu today. (Don't think she's very impressed with the weather either)..

Dyson on the blink....so hopefully this also means I won't have to do any hoovering in 2012

Slightly sore head this morning, I blame the presecco (not the bottle of red before ;) )

I am feeling positive for the year ahead. Last year for me wasnt a bad year at all. I got the one thing i have wanted for years (the girls!!) My friend came over last night who I work with and we sat down at the kitchen table and decided what classes we were doing at the gym etc which was making feel quite motivated.

I dont want to spend hours at work (for no extra money) so this year is going to be about me! Leave work on time, go to the gym and do what I want to do. I have put on some weight which needs to go and need to get back to what i was a couple of years ago.

Happy New year to all :) Happy Birthday DM

Sadietoo - good luck with the bellringing. I learnt when I was 8 although I mostly gave up when I was in my teens  I do still occasionally ring though for weddings & anything else when they're desperate for an extra ringer. My dad has always been a ringer & my brother is extremely keen. It can be a very sociable hobby, most practises end with a drink in the local pub & lots of towers & organisations have days out visiting other towers, usually taking in a pub lunch. There's quite a strong link between beer & bells

I feel tired and emotional today . . . our friends staying with us set off back home south after breakfast. Went to church and said farewell to the organist who is moving to pastures new, all very sad as I've lost an excellent piano teacher. I thought I might take some of the Christmas decorations down in phases so the house does not look so bare and empty. Picked up on emails and already feel burdoned by football commitments for DS, meetings for Youth Group and coffee rotas . . and that's all before I return to work on Tuesday. I feel apprehensive about getting back on the merry-go-round as I won't get off it until half term.

January is bleak yet I'm trying to stay so positive with plans for the year ahead, things to look forward to and plan for. I think I have post Christmas blues . . . . :(

Happy Birthday DM, a good way to start a new year. :D

I felt a bit delicate this morning but a walk to the shop for my OH's cigarettes :shameonu: sorted me out. He has terrible toothache and has had for several days now, so I had to drink most of his share of the bubbly at midnight

I am feeling pretty good about the coming year, I am more confident and happier than this time last year, long may it continue. :D

Have a good one everyone.

Thanks for the birthday wishes folks, just seen the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo film - English version. Brilliant, very true to the book and definitely NOT for the faint-hearted.

What sort of terrier are you looking for Christian? I can keep an eye open for you. You'd have to complete a homecheck if you are taking on a rescue and they are pretty strict about people who work, but provided that you have provisions made, then you'll be OK. I do homechecks for a couple of charities.

I have moved this to MFAOA as it was developing into a thread of it's own, sorry! - Christian

I had all my lot round and my brother had his friends round so was a good night :D

Few too many drinks but nothing broken and not too much sick so all is good

Didn't get to sleep 'til 6 and had people sleeping all over the house - some didn't leave til 4 this afternoon so have pretty much just sat on the sofa trying to buy a car all night.

Happy Birthday C :D

I saw the film on Friday night, haven't read the book but I thought it was really good :)

Friend who read the book said he just got confused with all the names and had to keep rereading it
