mollyripkim
Just thought I would post a couple of pictures of my new girls, you probably know I have been trying for ages to get white ones and had a call from the lady I got mine from to say she had four from last years hatch (not laid yet) who she was going to rehome due to a divorce. Well, we were straight over and needless to say loved them and came home with two Holly and Ivy (not very original I know). Intros good so far, the new girls are in a separate run in sight of the others but the oldies haven't shown even a little bit of interest. I will keep them separate for a week then maybe try an hour free ranging to see what happens. These are my existing girls tucking into bokashi bran except Henrietta who as usual finds the camera more interesting.
Mum
They are beautiful!!! My Mum always used to tell me, all things come to those who wait. And she was right Hope all your intro's go well and you get eggs from them soon
Duncan08
Gorgeous, I would love some bantams, they are all so pretty, But my big girls would give them a dogs life I think and I don't want two houses to clean out on a permanent basis, (famous last words - they are gorgeous though )

mollyripkim
Yes Mum, your mum was right and good things do come to those who wait! Even had a lovely cuddle at bedtime although they looked at me in horror when I offered some grapes by hand, gobbled them up after though. Chortle Chook
Oh mollyripkim what a beautiful group of girls. Holly and Ivy are lovely but the one that really makes me as is that little splash one (have I got the terminology correct?) I 'need' one of those. mollyripkim
Hi Cheaky Chook, do you mean the little grey one at the back, officially she is a blue but really too pale. But she is so sweet and still cheeps like a chick despite being two years old soon.

But she is so sweet and still cheeps like a chick despite being two years old soon. Yes that's the one I'm in lurve with. I know that last year there was a thing amongst Silkie club people to breed a splash silkie and your girl looks like one of those. I also have a little girl who makes little baby cheep noises despite being around 2 years old. I think she knows that it gets her more meal worms
mollyripkim
Yes I think you are right, I do have a soft spot for her and always make sure she gets her treats as she is not pushy at all, in fact a proper little lady I'm glad someone else has one that still cheeps as I did wonder if there was something wrong, but it's like she just didn't grow up! Am off now to google the silkie club, didn't know there was one!
mollyripkim
Oh no, Cheaky Chook, I might find another colour that I just have to have! Have promised hubby that nine is the limit.
Chortle Chook
Splash is not a 'standard' Silkie colour, nor is it ratified by the club, but is 'work in progress' along with chocolate and cuckoo. The club website is here Silkie club home page but sadly the online part is not much used
MedusA
Oooooh! Gorgeous girlies! I adore my Silkies. I don't tell the other girls this, but they are my favourites, especially Muggle, my little Cuckoo Silkie who has the most endearing waddling run. Her pendulous crop flops from side to side alarmingly but doesn't appear to cause her any problems. Her friend Squib is Partridge, very prone to broodiness and quacks like a duck. They are so friendly and like to be cuddled which makes them a big hit with children when I take them to our allotment fairs. I have vowed always to have at least 2 Silkies in my flock. mollyripkim
Thanks for the link Cheaky Chook, one of my original girls was a cuckoo and so pretty, unfortunately she turned into a he but because he was a good colour he went to a new home via the breeder. Chocolate would be lovely, I will keep my eye on that! MedusA, your girls sound such little characters as well, they do have such funny little ways, I also have one who spends so much time broody, Cilla the black one, but she is not feisty with it, I just turn her out several times a day, she has a wander and food then goes back. You are right they are sooo friendly as well, mine would happily come in the back door if I let them, much to hubby's disgust. I like the way they chatter to me at the door whilst I am cooking etc, probably just for treats but never mind!
