Cinnamon
How odd - I never get that sensation with it,but I do have fairly dry skin,so maybe that is it? I often get hot at work too,& I only ever wear it for work or if I go out.

WitchHazel
am concered about someones earlier comment about animal testing and garnier. whats the story with this? . Garnier has not carried out animal testing since 1989. This relates to finished products but it is possible that some ingredients used by Garnier (and many, many, many others, even ones you would not suspect) have been animal tested. You can bet the same applies to most new soap powders, fabric conditioners, cleaning products, washing up liquids, dishwasher tablets, biofriendly oven cleaners....anything that uses a new ingredient. It's not so black and white as one might think. EU legislation actually demands that all new cosmetic ingredients be tested on animals, although from 2009 onwards it has been working with cosmetics firms to eradicate the use of animal testing by 2013. The mineral make-up that you have as well - the ingredients for that have probably also been tested on animals. L'Oreal (Garnier's parent company) is the founder member of member of the European Partnership for Alternatives to Animal Testing, and I seem to remember reading that they had already invested some €600m in developing artificial tissue to use as a replacement. Neither I, nor anyone I know, is in anyway affiliated with L'Oreal. I do not condone the testing of ingredients on animals, I just want to point out that it's not such a straightforward issue. welovemarmite
Thanks Witchazel, thats just what i wanted to know. I like to have whatever facts to hand before i make my mind up, but as i didnt like the texture of the BB on my skin anyway, i dont think i will be using them!!! The Dogmother
WitchHazel is right - I used to work as UK marketing manager for a skincare/cosmetics firm when I worked in London. None of them likes to be using animal tested ingredients, but until recently there have been very few options - I believe that even the Body Shop used/uses ingredients tested on animals, although their end products aren't. Their main concerns are that the product is safe.
WitchHazel
My BB cream samples arrived on Tuesday, but I've only just got round to trying it this morning. I was, of course, pre-disposed to liking it. It was recommended on here by someone who's opinion I trust; I'd watched the youtube BB Cream Carnaby Street video, which gave me some help in seeing how to apply it. I'm a bit under the weather at the moment, so my complexion is pallid and dull, apart from the rosacea around my nose. I decided if applying it made me look more healthy, then it would be a winner. When I first put it on, my initial optimism was a bit dulled by trying to get the sample out of the sachet. I wanted to be able to squeeze a small amount out on to the back of my hand and to use my fingertips to apply, but the sachet had other ideas. I ended up having to dip my finger in, which meant I had product on both my fingertip and al over my fingernail, and under my nail. I started to apply it, using the application method I found on another youtube video: moisturise first, then only apply it - in small dabs - on one part of the face at one time, blend it in, before moving to the next part. I started to be a bit dubious. I looked at my finished face and decided it was okay. I only wear makeup on special occasions and I could see that itmight work on days where I needed my face brightening without the need to then put on the rest of the makeup. It felt a little sticky, but I couldn't be bothered to go and get my powder. However, I went back to look a few minutes later, and it had really settled down. It's not sticky anymore and I don't think that (with my dry skin) it needs powder. My skintone really has evened out. It has masked a lot of the rosacea, which has really brightened my face. If I didn't have rosacea, I would say it would definitely work (for me) as a makeup base. It still might, actually, I won't know until I try (another time). i'm really pleased with it, and I'm going to buy it and use it when I want to present a more even face but don't want to do a full makeup. Thanks Sarah for recommending it, and thank you WLM for starting this thread. I'm aware my post reads like a bit of a gushing advert, sorry about that. I would like to confirm that meither I nor anyone I know is any way affiliated with Garnier/L'Oreal or anything else to do with the product. Or any makeup products for that matter. Plum
My samples came yesterday as well. Tried some yesterday after washing and moisturising and my face started stinging and felt swollen. I felt so disapointed because it looked good until the reaction. Anyway tried again this morning and slapped some on after moisturising and no reaction. I have very dry skin so it absorbed ok and feels lovely, no reaction yet.

Groovychook
A thumbs up for the Liz Earle skin tint here! It's very light and natural looking but doesn't make my skin feel claustrophobic like other foundations do. Lasts well over the day too, although I've only road tested it on two occasions as yet... It doesn't have a strong scent either... I hate the whiff of some cosmetics! I did have to order a set of 3 different shade samples off ebay though. I emailed Liz Earle to ask how I would go about getting some samples as the website was a little unclear. They said that they do not have samples available to send to customers but I could order a travel size to try. All a bit confusing when you view the website though Anyway, it was worth the palaver- I'll definitely be ordering some
welovemarmite
Just did my face up using earthnicity mineral makeup, Found it online. I got their sample pack for £5. Have to say love it so far. Like the way it has gone on and the fact that my face feels like it can breathe and not about to melt like a candle which is the problem i was having with the BB. Will see how it goes during the day. Groovychook
Ooh yes, let us know how you get on with it. I had a look at their website and it looks very nice!! I'd be frightened of looking too 'powdery' so I'd be interested to hear how natural it looks
welovemarmite
well it was my first attempt at putting that sort of thing on. I did find i was heavy handed with one area, so just worked on it a bit more with the brush (i got the brush on top of the sample kit) i dont look powdered at all and i have used the foundation, concealer and powder on top. I just feel even and natural...
