Sheilaz
Thank you Superkitty, I now feel motivated. Well done on the 3lb in the right direction. I think it's easier to maintain if the loss if slow and steady, and it also leads to a healthy lifestyle. That's my aim anyway, and now I'm motivated again, thanks. LolaLayla
I have given up standing on the scales. I know the news is bad I still cannot exercise but started acupuncture yesterday so hope there may be an improvement.
Lesley
Hope you soon feel better LL and can get back to exercising. I'm still standing still - well wobbling really - 2lbs on.....2lbs off.....1lb on.....1lb off..... I'm just glad I'm not putting it on and it staying on. Things are really difficult for us at the moment so I'm OK with my weight not escalating. (Typed with one hand because the other is stuck in a bag of mini eggs )
superkitty
I'm the same - half on, half off, one on, two off..a net loss of 3.5lb as of yesterday morning. But seeing as yesterday night involved a fish and chip supper and half a family bag of mini eggs..... But im still exercising regularly and feel fitter and stronger, so am trying not to get too hung up on the scales. How did the acupuncture go LolaLayla? Guest
I've had the most awful backache the last couple of days,I went for a swim thursday as that usually helps, but feel worse. It feels like i'm "going tdown with something" - but just what? BLEARGH... So I'm not eating much and can't be bothered to weigh myself either. I have a full day at work tomorrow standing on my feet for 9 hours! So not looking forward to that!
Ain't Nobody Here
Bit late to the party, but can I join in ? You've all gone quiet, hope you're still fighting those pounds . I've been steadily putting weight on for a couple of years but the thing that spurred me into action was putting on a usually comfy but smart pair of black trousers for a choir performance in Edinburgh's main concert hall and not even being able to do the buttons up . There were so many yummy mummies in gorgeous frocks and trousers there, I felt like a real fat frump . I've been at it 3 weeks and have lost a few pounds (but I don't trust my scales at the best of times ). Said trousers now fit (albeit tight) so I'm obviously on the right track . I'm doing as many step classes as I can and have started cross-training classes too (quite hard work ). If I feel like nibbling something I'll have a handful of nuts or some celery cut into sections and filled with Philly or peanut butter. A poached egg on ham rather than toast is good as a small meal too. How's everybody doing?
superkitty
I seem to still be doing mostly ok..another half pound off last week..but I might have undone some of that hard work over the Easter weekend Keeping up with the regular body combat classes and have started doing a Pilates DVD once a week as well as the 30 day shred DVD. I'm wondering now whether this last 4.5 lb is going to be impossible, whether I'm kidding myself that I can get back to my old weight ... I always seem to go back up to a certain weight as soon as I relax...and then I'm able to stay there without too much bother. Maybe that's my natural weight nowadays and I should just accept it, even if it's half a stone heavier than I'd like I would so like to fit into some of my old size 10 clothes again though I already exercise a lot and eat a really healthy nutritious diet (gearing up for our second round of ivf soon, so being as healthy as poss. is crucial - no crash diets or anything)....short of bleedin' starving myself (which I can't do because of the ivf) I don't know what else I can do. Anyway. Welcome ANH, and good luck! And YUM, I hadn't thought of doing poached egg on ham - I keep trying it on spinach but then the spinach is all squeaky and I remember how much I hate cooked spinach Ham is definitely on the shopping list for this week. Do you eat salted nuts or are you very good and eat unsalted?
TheGirlsMum
Hello, can I sneak in here too? What can I say but I've been eating far too much of what I like.....crisps and chocolate. I had a fall two months ago and suffered a bleed on the brain so my pace of life has been very slow. Just got the all clear to drive and carry on with my life. So the excess weight has to go. I'm going to try to replace my snacks with a glass of water or carrots. Wish me luck. Your all doing very well.
Ain't Nobody Here
Thanks, Superkitty . That sounds really frightening, Girlsmum . I'm so glad you've recovered . I wouldn't beat yourself up too much about your weight. It's enough that you're ok now .
AndreaT
I have not been doing well at all! Too much eating out, takeaways and chocolate I have decided I am going to join Slimming World next week and do it properly instead of playing at it. A few of my friends are doing it so that should be added incentive. On the plus side I had to take Pheobe cat to the vets this week (I thought she had hurt her mouth but it turned out to be pigment which has always been there ) and while there they weighed her. She was very overweight when she came to live with me but she has been on light food for the last 18 months and she has lost 1kg which is a 5th of her body weight! I think she should be an honorary member of this thread

Sheilaz
Yes, I'm finding it hard to make any progress but I'm still trying, so glad to see these posts. Good idea Cathy " I will do it!" This week I am going to make sure I drink my water. I'm using favourite water cups or bottles to drink from to make it feel like a treat, it does help. Also, I try and have them poured out or topped up in advance, to make it easy. I have a bottle with me wherever I go, even at work, or especially at work. I know I get easilyt dehydrated and mistake it for tiredness or hunger, a common problem? This week, I am mostly drinking my water... Ain't Nobody Here
My electronic (but unreliable:roll: ) scales tell me I've lost another pound or so . I have been taking waist and tummy measurements weekly too - even though you don't think you look any less flabby, the tape measure can confirm that you are (slightly!) . Teabag, I don't think I will ever be able to think of water as a treat . Good luck with that!
Couperwife
I have to remember to drink water too Flavour your water to make it a treat...I'm currently enjoying water flavoured with lemon and elderflower cordial , tis yummy Park running this morning. Should be fun cos it's raining, with a chance of snow good luck on healthiness everyone Cathy X
Plum
Far too cold to run outside brrrrrr. Teabag I'm onto water as well. Drinking hot water instead of all the coffee and enjoying it. Back on track- again! Lost 4lb

Lesley
Oh no Lesley you're my inspiration, get back on track Me??!! - you obviously haven't seen me!! I'll get back into it all tomorrow, we've just been away with family for the weekend so that we were all near to grand-daughter on her internet school weekend in case she had problems - Brecon has the most amazing ice-cream parlour!!......it warranted a couple of visits...... and a take-away litre of Turkish Delight ice-cream...... I'll write a meal plan for the next few days.
chickencam
You are not alone Lesley, I have gained weight over the last few weeks too. It all started to go wrong when my YD bought me chocolate for Mothering Sunday, then we were away for the first week of the Easter holidays, and the lovely lady whose cottage we were staying in left us some yummy cakes as an Easter treat. It was also my birthday whilst we were away and my OH had bought me a couple of boxes of reduced Hotel Chocolat chocs, then we came home to Easter chocolate and then when I went back to work there was another Easter egg waiting for me. All very lovely but it has done nothing for my body shape Hopefully I can re-focus now and get back on track, with evening on the allotment when the weather bucks up a bit. superkitty
I have a pole dancing lesson on Thursday my friend and I went to a taster session a couple of months ago and were really impressed at how strong and fit the girls were (one lady was in her 50's and the instructor said her oldest regular lady is in her 70's,) So that should be interesting Am keeping up the exercise though, went to body combat last night and again tonight. Had a bit of a shock when I counted back and realised that when I started doing body combat donkeys years ago, they were on release number 15 I think (they release new choreography and music every 3 months). Release number 52 came out this month I think that I've cracked it in terms of not allowing my 'bad' days/weekends/weeks with food to make me think 'oh, I've ruined everything, I might as well go and get that other packet of biccies/ not bother exercising today/get a takeaway for dinner and start again tomorrow/next week'. I'm learning that my kind of 'all or nothing' thinking doesn't help at all- what helps is just thinking ' oh well, best go see if I can work some of that off' or the like. Because I've kept up the exercise all through my falling on and off the wagon over the last few months, my weight gain has been pretty minimal, all things considered..... It's only taken me about 10 years to figure that out Keep going everyone
