Lose 8lb in 8 weeks? Healthy Eating Chat 3

Recommended Posts

It's lovely to see more members joining in, welcome aboard. I feel motivated by your posts, I think it's a feeling of safety in numbers, it's a daunting task solo isn't it?

I shall lose count of the times I say that I've lost the plot but I'm starting again today...

Still, there's time yet to achive the target. I did weigh myself yesterdayu and had lost precisely nothing. But, I'm taking that as good news that I've maintained since losing the first half stone in the Autumn, I'm pleased not to have gained at least, and I'm starting again today!

My target this week is to eat my meals and snacks on time. I had a comfort binge evening on Friday and then realised I hadn't looked after myself in the day. If I eat healthily during the day I don't even feel hungry, and feel better for it.

It's quite a challenge to eat at regular intervals some days, I know others find it difficult too, so that's what I'm watching this week, really I am this time! Plus remembering water. :D

I haven't lost anything much, but haven't gained either and i am naturally more active once the days start to lengthen, having said that I did spend yesterday curled up on the sofa reading the book that DS bought for me for Mothering Sunday, the weather was horrible in the morning and although the sun came out later, it was still a bit chilly outside so that is my excuse.

I did have roast beef and yorkshire puddings cooked by my lovely family yeaterday, but had mash instead of roast potatoes, because I have really gone off normal roast potatoes, I still like a big tray of roasted veg, but you don't need much oil with that and the potato wedges mixed with loads of other veg are yummy.

Fruit and fibre and a banana so far today and I just off to blitz the house, so loads of excercise.

Homemade smoothie for breakfast and pea and ham soup with a sprinkle of seeds for lunch. So far, so good today after what can only be described as a binge over the weekend! can't tell you what I ate, but food-wise the weekend started badly and got worse  I haven't dared weigh myself today but maybe later in the week I'll have a look  in the meantime am planning to start my 30 Day Shred DVD tonight and am just about to go clean out the girls and the wir in my lunch break.

Hope everyone's Monday is going well. :D

Thank you so much for all the fish recipes everyone :D I shall be certainly trying some out!

Well - I have been good on the whole, but have some Mothers Day chocolates to eat (well I will share them) and I did make some buns with my little chick on Sunday too

Saying all this... I have been battling a virus and I really have been off my food :( it's left me with little energy and feeling :vom:

I have been on the Wii (Just Dance) but I haven't done as much walking as I would have liked. I have done garden tidying and housework though so every little counts in my eyes!!!

Mr TL has made a curry tonight, I just hope I can eat it! What's everyone else had/having tonight?

I'm hoping I feel a little better tomorrow as I want to make some healthy vege soup  lol!

Hope you feel better soon Tigerlily.

The weekend wasn't so good for me, my resolution not to have dessert on friday went out of the window and lots of cocktails and wine were drunk! I have painted my outside walls and done some house work though so I've been quite active.

I am back on track now, for the moment. It'll be cottage pie for tea tonight but I'm going to Edinburgh for 3 days tomorrow. I guess all the walking will counteract some of the food and drink I'll be having! :anxious:

Cheese is just the thing to cause a big lapse, back on the straight and narrow now.

I'd like to join in I didn't do so well after an initial splurge last year but haven't put any on. Lots to lose so sensible eating and healthy choices for me from now on with your help :D

Right first how do I resist all the cakes at work?

Hmm...well, after what can only be described as a binge over the weekend, I have been quite good this week and managed to mainly stick to a sensible diet. Also did level 3 of my 30 Day Shred DVD on Monday, body combat classes on Tuesday and Wednesday ..didn't do any exercise on Thursday because I sing in a choir Thursday nights (maybe singing burns calories?!? ) and planning to do the DVD tonight after work. And I've lost the grand total of......half a pound

I'm a bit annoyed, but then I don't know what damage I did over the weekend (it was a 3-day Major Eating Extravanganza  ) as I didn't dare weigh myself on Monday to see what I weighed afterwards. So my thinking is that I should try to be positive, as I've lost whatever I put on, plus the half pound. But still..MEH. :(

Anyway, how is everyone else doing? Am going to try very hard to eat normally over the weekend...wish me luck :D

Cathy - "You're fired!!"

I've had another difficult week with granddaughter being back in hospital with back and shoulder dislocations. Sitting on the hospital chairs has set my back off so I haven't been able to start working on the veggie plots which I was hoping to do.

I thought as I'd managed to go back to the gym with L that I would go again this week even though she isn't mobile and not able to go at the moment.......I went early so that I could do half an hour before Aquafit yesterday.....

I just find it so intimidating on my own - a young girl looked up from the reception desk and said hello as I went in but nothing more. I decided to fill my water bottle but couldn't get the tap to work and, with all those bored people on treadmills watching to see what happened, I felt fatter and even more stupid so I left  The girl who spoke as I came in saw me leave but didn't say a word which I was annoyed about later. I went to the pool early though and swam before the Aquafit class started so I did 1 hour 20mins altogether.

My weight has stayed the same for 4 weeks now which I'm OK with - I'm surprised that I haven't put any on with the trips back and forth to the hospital.

OH Lesley. I am so sorry that you had a horrid time at the gym. You would have thought someone would have helped. At our gym we always try to talk to new people in classes and as I have been off due to illness one of the ladies I know just to chat to phoned to see if I was ok. They also sent me a card which was so thoughtful it made me teary. I hope next time it is better for you.

Thanks Cathy - L is fine today and phoned me earlier to ask if I'd take her to the gym tomorrow! - at least I'll have someone to hold my hand  She only managed the stairs on Friday . She'll be fine now until 3 weeks or so when it will all start again. I need to go to work off what I ate over the weekend - I did lots of gardening and was starving.

Well done for those being more motivated than me, I'm getting no where and seem to have gained a pound or two, drat!

However, if I redouble my efforts, it is still achievable, I only need to lose 2lb a week. Er, somehow.

The good news is that I miscalculated, it only needs to be 7lb off, not eight, to be half a stone, so we get one off free!

Right, I'm accentuating the positive. If I have a bad day I will start again the next. If I get in a good habit, I tend to make healthy choices anyway, so I won't dwell on the poor decisions, food is to be enjoyed.

Today is healthy, regular, balanced food and a bit of steady exercise. Are you all with me for April?
