Lose 8lb in 8 weeks? Healthy Eating Chat 3

Recommended Posts

Well done ANH and GM :dance: - and you too Sheila 8) - in fact, all of you who have lost something.....

I'm not going to make it before my Mum's birthday party in 2 weeks time so I've just ordered 'hold it all in' underwear from M&S instead - sorry  I could really do with one of the olympic swimsuit things.....neck to ankles job

I have had a good week since Tuesday though and feel inspired so will carry on and try harder. I went on a bread making course on Sunday with Carl and we made some fantastic bread - I managed to get most of it in the freezer on Monday, I love bread but it doesn't love me.

I tried various different types to hold me in and found that the fat always seemed to escape somewhere (usually a strange place on your back  ) However the best I found was a slip like a full length underskirt. I am usually a M&S 12 for things like that but I got a 10 and was quite impressed as it held the tummy and hips in but you did not seem to get any rolls appearing anywhere. :) Hope this helps :)

I've had that problem (fat displacement!) when I tried stuff on a while ago and decided that if people didn't like what they saw then they didn't have to look and didn't buy anything :D I like the gentle holding in that my swimsuit does so I hope what I've chosen will feel the same, I just want a bit of light control really. I go to collect it tomorrow.

I have actually lost 2 lbs this week so I might lose a bit more before the 13th May.

:D Well done everyone, it's great reading your posts.

The target was just a kickstart, let's keep it as an ongoing topic, full of motivation, determination, and success.

Talking of which, I may have lost another pound. :anxious:

The main thing though is that I have a focus to eat healthily. When I do eat well, little and often, I have absolutely no sugar cravings and feel better for it. Plus, even though I'm finding this 8lb hard to shift, at least I am maintaining and not increasing.

This week, I am mostly trying to think ahead about meal plans, to avoid that "I'm too hungry to think what to have, so I'll snack and binge" syndrome! :D

This means I enjoy food, and in a fit and healthy way, food should be savoured and enjoyed.

I decided to do the Harcombe Plan again and am very pleased to announce, ahem, that I managed yesterday fine. I did it a while back (after hearing about it on here) and it worked brilliantly for me. I was very unwell during phase one last time which I think was due to the removing of caffeine from my diet. As i still have decaffeinated drinks I am hoping that this will not be an issue this time. Yesterday I was fine. I applaud those with the willpower to stick to a way of eating /weight loss plan that suits them and especially applaud those who keep the weight off when they have lost it. I am not one of those people alas... I will keep you updated with my progress! Just off to prepare a suitable lunch to take to work!

As an aside, our ducks are enjoying this rain no end! They spend hours dabbling around making mud pies. xxxx

Haven't been on here for a week sorry.....last week lost 4lbs, this week just one so think I have reached my plateu. One more pound to go for my stone but I really think it is now going to take some real soul searching. I'm doing well during the day no snacks and no bread or crisps so far. But....there are now Pringles in the house just because I can't eat them not really fair on the girls, so we'll see how the will power works this week.

Good luck all.

Egluntyne's done that one and had wonderful results. How's everyone else doing?

After an all inclusive holiday week I have slipped shamefully and put on loads. Been back on straight and narrow for last couple of days but will relax again soon as it's so hard to ignore my aching stomach but hopefully in a healthy way I just can't get over the loss of sugar highs.

I'm off to look for low fat cake recipes for the odd treat. On that topic I guess fat free sponge cake can't be too damaging in moderation? :?

Morning now and although still stomach is still calling to me, my mind is in control and no baking

Plum have you tried myfitnesspal app (if you have an iPhone)? It was recommended on one of the other threads. I put it on my phone yesterday and it really stopped me eating last night :D Hopefully all the inputting of food and exercise will help. I have never gone to weight watchers or similar as I just cannot cope with the idea of spending money for people to tell me what I already know. I started listing foods etc on the forum to see if it would help curtail my eating but I stopped as I didn't want to bore folks rigid  I am even thinking of going swimming tomorrow so that I can put it on the day's list :D

Well done TheGirlsMum

Half a stone lost!!!! :D I am very pleased as it has been quite quick. I haven't done Harcombe absolutely perfectly as I have had the odd splash of milk in my decaff tea and a few glasses of red wine :roll: . I have avoided most foods containing dairy or gluten and it has definitely helped so I feel I do have a certain amount of intolerance to those things. Luckily, the same does not apply to the wine. I have decided for my next phase I will stick mainly to the 'fat' meals as I have enjoyed them. I will include the odd 'carb' meal now and then and will have plenty of fruit as well. Lots of people in the staff room at the school where I work admire my lunches nowadays, they have become a bit of a talking point so I will have to keep it up I feel. I first heard about this diet on here which inspired me to buy the books and get going. (I recall Egluntyne doing well, well done!). My challenge now is to keep it up as I still have a lot to lose. Wish me luck... :)

I don't understand what this app is I'll google it later.

:D

Sorry I didn't really explain it. You fill in your details and what you want to lose and it calculates how many calories you can have each day to allow weight loss. It also tells you how long it should take you to lose the weight. As you have your meals you key in what you ate and it calculates how many calories you have left to use that day. If you exercise it calculates how many calories you have burned and adds that to how many you have left for the day. To me it feels like having someone looking over your shoulder and I have done well again today so I am still hopeful that this will help. I am apt to eat more at the weekends so we will see how it works for me then :?

Sounds like it would work well if you are in the right frame of mind but I've no iphone and I can only keep that sort of intensity up for a very short time. I followed that sort of format in the past and it is really motivating and effective, it's obviously working really well for you, keep it up  .

I'm going to stick to the BHF diet advice and plan so I can carry it on long term and have a lifelong healthy way of eating.

 Now joined and filled in yesterday on myfitness online, will watch progress for a while. It reckons I could lose 8lb by middle of June  Think I can keep going that long,

3lb lost this week so far even with the cupcake I ate yesterday, all the digging of my son's garden must have worked. According to the calculator I burnt 2 weeks of exercise colories yesterday.

I have been swimming this morning and rushed home to fill it in on my app. That sounds a bit sad but if it helps me get into the right frame of mind then that will help. I still feel very positive, although OH is back tonight so that could alter things as he likes his food and I have trouble dishing myself the correct portion when making dinner for us  Also he is not keen on salady things :( Hope the app works for you too :D
