Queens Jubilee concert

The fireworks looked lovely at the end. Such a shame that Prince Philip was not able to be with her. On another note it is really strange to watch all the celebrations as in this part of the world there does not seem to be anything special on :( According to the news there were over 10,000 applications for parties in England and a few hundred in Scotland :( A couple of shops have got a red, white and blue theme and I think a hotel near here has a (very expensive) afternoon tea. Maybe some of the big cities have had events :?

Well we had the most fantasic time ever! :D:D:D We were sat ten feet from the Royal Box and could see all the commings and goings on. The que to get in was not very well organised and we were told to move to different que's each one being a mile long  How ever we rebelled and eventually got in. The Palce garden were amazing the picnic more that you could eat. I had the vegetarian option :!: I will post pictures but I now have to organise a party for the 16th  Lots to do and I have done nothing.:lol::lol:

Who was the Afrocaribean guy on stage at the end as you looked at the stage on the left - it wasnt Stevie Wonder - just behind Cheryl Cole - couldnt place him. Felt sorry for Rolf cut off in his prime. lenny Henry seemed annoying. Otherwise liked the fact all Royals were singing and even the Archbishop was singing to a Beatles number. I would love to have been there but the crowds are a killer.

Yes, definitely time for Elton to hang up his singing voice... and Paul McCartney... and Cliff Richard. Tom Jones though - wow, his voice is still great and loved Shirley Bassey too!

Anyone else find Madness singing 'Our House' on top of Buckingham Palace slightly ironic?! Great graphics on the palace though!

CM - didn't realise it was the Queen's Official Birthday this weekend too. Not quite so cringeworthy as I thought then!

The worst bit about Elton John was when he was gossiping behind The Prince of Wales when he was making his speech  His singing was pretty poor too, as was Cheryl's, as far as I have heard she very muscled in on that song and she found herself a pro, inent spot by the Queen at the end too.

Overall I thought it was good but there were too many people there I am quite glad that we didn't win tickets.

I totally agree re the singers you mention etc. We were literally behind the settee re the Happy Birthday cringing until we Googled the Official Birthday. I am so glad it was OK as love Stevie Wonder.

Absolutely loved watching it! We loved Madness on the roof - fab & the effects.. Whoa! We enjoyed Elton. We thought Stevie Wonder was a bit rubbish & Paul McCartney was a bit shocking! Blimey is he gaunt!

Robbie singing swing - much prefer him doing that. 8)

A couple of the miliatary wives were cringeworthy - but on a whole the performance was great.

Poor Rolf Harris - I was enjoying Two Little Boys. :(

I think the star of the show was Peter Kay - priceless!

We loved watching the Royals jigging away. I have to say watching it, I did feel quite proud to be British. I agree about the Gary Barlow Knighthood thing - definitely.

We also predict that the queen will reign for 1 more year, then pass the throne to Will & Kate - as Charlie boy will pass it on I think.

I had that discussion with my girls this morning. I don't think the Queen will ever abdicate, she'll reign until the day she dies and Prince Charles will become King because that's what he's waited for his entire life. I can't see him passing up that chance, however much William & Kate are loved. Unfortunately Prince Charles has never and will never be popular.

I can't see that happening myself. In any case, she couldn't do it without a huge change in the law. There would have to be a darned good constitutional reason for denying Charles his birthright.

Cheryl Cole is a limpet - always hanging on to others talent. Thought Tom Jones was good - my friend and I were discussing the fact women used to throw their knickers at him. ES of 16 was shocked and told me to not get any ideas - OH quipped " he'd throw em back" Bloomin cheek - I dont wear Bridget Jones yet. I find looking at Paul mcCartney off putting, He should retire. Will.i.am is another hanger on.
