Gertie
I had my first Christmas card yesterday. From someone totally unexpected. It was from a taxi driver who I booked to take me to the train station in August. That is truly random! It had a picture of the taxi on the front! Imaginative marketing. I've had cards from banks, estate agent etc, but that's got to be the weirdest. What's yours?
snowberry
The dealership that I got my car from sends me a birthdaycard for the car every year
Olly
I used to get one from the local curry house. I think that indicates I'd visited a bit too frequently!
Redwing
I wonder if Egluntyne will get her usual card from that couple.....

(yet to be chosen) I love the oo the ell are they! It makes my christmas Snap! My Dad is and always has been totally obsessive about The Christmas Cards. All is written down in a book.....he operates a 'two strikes and you are out' rule whereby non appearance of cards for two years means NO MORE CARDS sent!!!! He even gets uptight if cards are late (ie; 'Havn't heard from the Paytons yet and its the 15th, usually have theirs by 10th at the latest. I'll have to ring them'!!) Some years ago I invented Margaret and Ron with children called Geoff and Julia (Mum and Dad have taken several coach trips over the years so these two old dears could easily have been people they met whilst travelling!) Dear Margaret always asks after 'the girls' (sister and I) Last year I forgot but explained it away this year by mentioning that it was due to a misunderstanding with the local constabulary on Ron's part but, luckilly, they had a very good solicitor and the judge accepted it was a complete misunderstanding!!! Ohhhhh, I love it I wonder, every year, when they will finally twig!! They have never mentioned it to me but I have seen the card, written very slowly with my left hand, on display several times.........I am sure that it really winds my Dad up! OH says that I will get my comeupance sooner or later but, in the meantime, long live Margaret and Ron - perhaps they are acquainted with Winnie and Wilf!!!! Chucknette....were you ever rumbled!? Ain't Nobody Here
I've just received my first Christmas card, complete with Round Robin, from my cousin who didn't bother to get in touch when my dad died (despite being very fond of him) or even tell me if she was coming to his funeral or not . The Dogmother
I love these stories every year. I always wait with baited breath for the card and missive from my godfather in Singapore, then call my dad to laugh about it (it's his youngest brother) there's always this lengthy eulogy about how brilliant their child is (ignoring his sons from the previous marriage ) and lots of wonderment about their fantastic lifestyle. I use it to light the stove Oh, and they invited me to the wonderchild's wedding in the summer... me and the husband who I divorced 13 years ago! Willow
We used to get a round robin letter from my OH's father and step-mother which I found very weird, although not half as weird as my parents found it when they also got the round robin from them and my parents had met these people 4 times in 20years and the round robin didn't mention my boys once but mentioned the other grandchild It had never occurred to me to make up people to send cards from. Chortle Chook
Oh soapdragon you have had me rocking with laughter over that. I can't believe it never ocurred to me to send cards from made up people. It's even better than Valentines. I've never had an odd Christmas card, but I did once get a mother's day card from our vet saying it was from my dogs
