Luvachicken
Those eggs look lovely in that nest. I can't wait to see them when they've hatched. And what a nice lady giving you more eggs than you were going to get in the first place

Chicken deficient
Myrtle is being an excellent egg mummy. Me and the little 'un candled, (or rather maglited), the eggs this morning, which would have been day 3 1/2. Of 8, 5 had spiders in, one looked blank and 2 I wasn't sure about, but probably blank too. Not too bad I thought, for eggs that had endured a fairly long car journey with OH driving! We'll candle them again in a few days time, before making any decisions about evicting any eggs.

Chicken deficient
We had another hatch during the night - it is a bluey grey colour with a few creamy bits. I think it will be black. The other three are all peeping and pipping, so I'll keep you posted and try and get some photos later
Chicken deficient
Chicks one and two: Three and four were still soggy and five was still pipping. I think three is silver partridge and four looks similar to two. (I will improve upon the names...I have some ideas already!)
Chicken deficient
The fifth chick has just hatched - I just went to check Myrtle and see if she wanted a drink and peeked at the egg just in time to see it break the membrane and push its lid off! Family photo coming soon...
