Redwing

I've had an unwelcome visitor

Recommended Posts

I don't know what to say other than I am so sorry to hear this - the fact someone has done this is unforgivable. I am just gobsmacked someone would actually go out of their way to do this.

I really hope you get some answers soon :(

Have had a busy couple of days and have only just read this.

Redwing I am so sorry.

You are one of only a few onletteers that I have met and you obviously love your chooks and breeding them so much. It is disgusting that someone would do this and as they took the best ones they must have knowledge of breeding and your chooks. I feel so sorry for you, what a shocking thing to discover.

Hugs from the other end of the county :D

Chrissie

...........does that mean that they are now actually going to dare to exhibit them??? Revolting and vile people.

I'm only guessing here, but I suspect that the birds would be instantly recognisable (well to Redwing anyway) so they'd wait a season and breed from them. It would still be mighty suspect if someone popped up on the showing scene with some winning barred wyandottes though

I hope that word gets around, and all the judges are on the look-out so they get caught and banned from showing.

Tash - they sometimes report thefts in Practical Poultry; had you thought of reporting it there?

I was just talking to the gamekeeper at work about this; he says that if you think you have spotted them or have suspicions about someone who might have nicked them, then you could easily get a DNA test done on the birds using a feather. That would prove that they were descended from your stock.

Very sorry Tash, that is a really upsetting thing to happen. As others have said, it suggests that the person(s) responsible have been to you and know your set up and have met you, which makes it even more callus.

Hope you have some joy with the police.

A really horrible thing to happen.

You must be sad - and really really angry!

I was once burgled by someone who must have known me (because they went to the obscure places where things were that no-one would have looked in), so perhaps have some idea how you must feel

As others have said, hopefully in time you will be able to track down those involved

Thank you everyone for your support

I have not involved the police as all crimes locally go through the village grapevine like wildfire as well as getting a leaflet drop and quite frankly the less people that know I have anything other than pet hens the better

For various reasons I dont think its anyone that knows me really well but someone who managed to get my address from somewhere

thanks again
