Redwing
Last Thursday night someone stole four of my best barred Wyandotte growers They were carefully selected and two inferior birds were left plus lots of growers of different breeds, only the best barreds were taken and the thief would have known exactly what they wanted I cant believe someone would be so heartless
good_egg
That's horrendous! And sinisterly thought through! Poor you. Have been mulling over buying a lock for the run - no prize stock like you but still might do.
AndreaT
Oh gosh, so sorry. That's really horrible and very scary to think they knew what you had!

Egluntyne
So sorry to hear it. Have you involved the police?
Pearls007
I do find that rather scary - the thieves must come from among very small group of people - those who breed and show, and recognise what makes a show bird.
Eggasperated
Oh no, I'm so sorry. Especially worrying when they have selected exact birds, someone Is obviously aware of your stock .
LottyJ1
So sorry it must have been a shock. People never cease to amaze me. Why would you even consider doing something like that.
The Dogmother
I am so sorry to hear that Tasha, what's worrying is that it is probably someone you 'know' from showing circles
mollyripkim
What an awful thing to happen, there are some horrible people around. Even if they do show or breed from them there would be no satisfaction knowing how you got there by thieving and not your own hard work. I really feel for you. miller30
Sorry to hear about what has happened but it was probably someone you know or who has been to your land and seen your birds and knows what you have some people for this reason will only do bird sales from their home and refuse to show people any of their stock a bit hard I know as when I have people come to me to buy eggs or birds they ask to see the parents there is just so many dishonest people in the world now hope the rest of your birds stay safe leanne
amys garden
Redwing I'm so sorry to hear your birds have been stolen! How awful I've heard of horses being stolen from their paddocks. But not chickens. I hope the police can help... You must be feeling really shocked and saddened. Sending you best wishes!
Daphne
I'm so sorry Tasha, only just seen this Words fail me sometimes.
Luvachicken
I have only just read this too. When I saw the title I assumed it was going to be about a fox attack. I'm so sorry that this has happened to you and your chickens. I know how much you love showing them. There are some mean people in this world - I just hope they get their come uppance. I hope the police can help you too.
Hayleybug
I also read the title and thought it was a fox attack! What horrible people there are out there, I suppose there's no way you would be able to identify your girls if you came across them at a show? Have the police been any help? daxigirl
That's just an awful thing to happen. Blinking people. (well you know what I mean)
chickanne
Sorry to hear this because, as others say, it must be someone who knows your girls. Is there a way of tagging chooks like dogs? Maybe you need some surveillance camera?
Luvachicken
On a different note, my mum's tortoise had a micro chip, like cats and dogs have, when he was really dinky. Maybe for our top chooks we should get them micro chipped too. At least then you could prove that they belong to you. Some people disgust me, they really do. Tweety
I'm so sorry to hear that. Absolutely appalling. i would certainly contact the police, and perhaps put the word about amongst your contacts in showing circles, and ask people to be on the lookout. Do you have any photos of them that you could circulate?
