Janepie33
Every morning I wake up with a fresh mozzie bite, despite covering myself (and my bed) with repellent and last night spraying the room and with flying insect killer and closing the bedroom door. This morning I woke up with yet ANOTHER bite in the only bit of unsprayed skin. OH remains bite free, although it was usually him they got to first, they don't seem to have touched him since his gall bladder op! Any hints and tips on removing the annoying little creature? PS I don't suppose it helps that we have a pond in the front garden underneath the bedroom window!
Grandmashazzie
What about those plug in repellents,or some natural oils.Apparently they don't like strong smells like clove, eucalyptus etc perhaps if you cover yourself in Vicks it will buzz off. Saronne
You're right, mozzie's breed in standing water. When I lived in the States, we had removable mosquito screens on all the windows. That way, we could enjoy the fresh air, but the mozzies stayed out. Not sure if they sell them in the U.K.
chuckmum6
It's funny how they like the taste of some people, but not others, when OH and I stayed in Venice they bite him all over. He had huge lumps and was actually quite ill, they never touch me, I must taste foul!
Alis girls
Other than a net - dont wear smellie toiletries to bed - like body lotion after a bath or shower as this makes you a magnet. The plug in jobbies are good. Oh rarely gets bitten - hes hairy so they probably cant see his skin Insect repelant that contains more than 35% DEET are good and recommended for malarial countries - I use Jungle Fever. Good luck. I was eaten alive in Spain once and had pussy bites which my kids liked squeezing.

I am a reactor and come out in huge red, itchy lumps The plug in things with the replacable blue tabs seem to work well.
chickencam
My son has been struggling this week, his room is right above our garden pond. He changed his bedding and has refused to open his windows since.
Old Speckled Hen
Hi Jane, how's it going? You could try getting your gall bladder op'd
The Dogmother
I sometimes get them in my room - nowhere near a pond, or any water come to that. I spray them before I go in the room, then open all the windows again.
Angie
When I lived in the gulf I got bitten daily , nasty things. They like me here in UK too. I actually have a Mozzie net for my bed . Bought it a few years ago from Ikea , don't know if they do them anymore . I have a hook on the ceiling and up it goes at this time of the year. Only the males make noise so you never know the females are around . Just one open window in the house and I swear they sneak in and make a bee line for the bedroom ! I also had fine net curtaining which I cut to window size and used double back sticky tape to put the net at my bedroom window so I can sleep with the window open without an invader. ( I must say I had but I had new windows in in May and haven't got around to replacing any with new) I also have a can of Tropical insect repellent handy to dowse myself with , it is the only thing that helps. Alis girls
I wouldnt be able to hear them - typical that only the males make a noise - like human males - this house is lovely and peaceful when I'm alone - when the guys are here - the noise is phenominal!!
