patsylabrador
I think I've got flu. I've not had it before so I can't be sure but I know I've never felt this awful. Earlier in the week I thought it was a rough cold but its got so painful and miserable. OH has it too and we've just been crashed out for a couple of days. The point is today is our 33rd anniversary, the weather is gloomy and I can't get warm. We just had a celebratory glass of water and digestive biscuit. The good thing is that we are together and we would laugh at our miserable faces except that would make us cough.
Alis girls
Wish you better - plenty of fluids, rest and TLC from OH.
The Dogmother
Sorry to hear that Jude, wishing you better soon. Seriously though, there's been a nasty flu bug going around this area; it lingers on and turns into a chest infection - my boss was off with Infectious Bronchitis, and called me to say that if anyone had a temperature and bad cough, I was to send them home as he didn't want it doing the rounds. Guest
Drop £20 on the floor if you are too ill to pick it up then you have flu. Lots of fluids and painkillers for the aches, cold damp flannel on the forehead helps too. You have my sympathy, get well soon
chickencam
Hope you feel better soon, flu is horrible
Valkyrie
Yuk! I had it from the start of the new year, really bad for 2 weeks and on into the third then after effects that went on for 2 months. Only to be given a heavy duty dose of steroids because the flu had reawakened the nasty side of asthma that I had as a child. By the following day having 2 doses of this wonder stuff I was in the garden and hardly coughing at all. So agree - lots of fluid because of dehydrating wayyyy too fast. Add lemon and honey. Cinnamon is good too. It's the after effects that you need to be careful of and try not to get back into the swing of things too fast either - it doesn't help matters and you will be floored again the following day. And with a brother that had post viral syndrome and was declared an ME sufferer by his second doc, that lasted almost 25 years!
Alis girls
Sorry didnt read it properly - i can see that you and OH are both under the weather - speedy recovery to you both.
mullethunter
Does sound like flu. I've only had it once and then, like you OH and I both had it and literally couldn't get off the sofa for a week. Glad I didn't have the chooks then actually. Keep up the fluids and you'll be mended soon
soapdragon
Oh yuk...poor you! Hopefully, when you are both back in the pink, you can have something more exciting than a biscuit and glass of water (maybe 2 biscuits and 2 glasses of water...wouldn't want to overdo it ) Keep warm and hydrated in the meantime; plenty of paracetamol and rest. Give yourselves time to recover properly and I hope you both feel better soon

Ain't Nobody Here
Poor both of you . At least you can both be equally sympathetic to each other! Hope you feel better soon x
Cat tails
Hope OH doesn't suffer from the man-flu too! Loads of rest and don't go back to work too soon! Getting rid of the flu takes a while. I've studied the flu in university, but luckily never have gotten it so far.
gavclojak
I heard someone say, if you think you have a cold it's a chill, if you think you have flu then it's a cold, if you think you are dying then it's probably flu. I only had it once thank goodness but I was floored,I had 3 young kids but I literally couldn't get off the sofa. I was unwel before Christmas, I had a triple whammy of chest infection, sinusitis and pharyngitis. Missed my work Christmas dinner:(
bill2b
Women always suffer more when they have flu, blokes just get over it
patsylabrador
Thank you everyone and the advice has been great. Sorry about the germs bill2b - stupid germs. Something weird happened today - I finished the telegraph cryptic in half an hour. That has never happened before, OH thinks it's because I'm too tired for all the flights of fancy that usually constantly whizz round my head. He might have a point. Definitely feeling better than yesterday but back on the sofa already.
patsylabrador
Also I blame the company for whom OH works for giving me this. They're too tight to cover sick days at all and a lot of their workers are on very low wages and they simply can't afford to just take days off. Apparently loads of people were struggling into work and it was spreading like crazy.
Valkyrie
My son kindly gave it to me - it was like him being guinea pig and me following with exact same things a couple of days later. When he started feeling better then I knew it would soon be over. Well that part anyway!
