Alis girls
Getting over a virus for the second time in a month and found myself at 6 am downstairs after another coughing fit tea in hand watching Law and Order SVU. You will remember last week after a particularly bad bout I was watching in bed at 5.30am with subtitles and OH slumbering next to me whilst off sick I bored myself silly with Cold Case and other American imports .Gorier the better. I couldn't read as eyes sore and alternated between TV and Radio. Last week I was put in downstairs bedroom to stop me waking up the household. I think it's a good title for a horror movie "downstairs they can't hear you cough" Now OH had started with the nag about a chest x ray and YS has joined in. I have never smoked and am on antibiotics and steroids. But will go and ask GP if no better in a week. Set me thinking what do others watch/listen to when not well? Cinnamon
I tend to binge watch stuff like 'Outlander', 'Game of Thrones', 'The Tudors' .............or my old favourite 'Pride & Prejudice', the Colin Firth version. I also eat a heck of a lot of Marmite on Toast, & either hot Ribena or Lemsip with a slug or something good in it. I chug back Night Nurse until I can sleep through the night again too. Hope you get better soon - it sounds ghastly. I have a horrible, horrible tickle in my throat just on one side, that literally has me gasping for breath. Had to leave the shop floor a few times now & last time I truly couldn't catch my breath at all...it was very frightening.
Olly
Sorry to hear about all the illness. I don't watch TV much if I'm ill - I read. Georgette Heyer, preferably!
Alis girls
Having felt very sorry for myself over Easter I went back to work yesterday and managed not to cough. Found out several other people had had same bug. Plus lots of patients too. Cinnamon hope you are OK and doent develop into anything. soapdragon
I also eat a heck of a lot of Marmite on Toast, & either hot Ribena or Lemsip with a slug or something good in it. Urgh....does the slug make you feel any better? Personally I'd jump out of bed and run round the room to avoid it! Hope you all feel better soon - my boys (aged 8, 11 and 51) have all had it and OH still hacking away, esp in the mornings. Luckily I didn't succumb - but when I am ill I stay in bed and read....Kate Ellis or things from the bookshelf that I have read and enjoyed before so are not too demanding! Urgh....does the slug make you feel any better? Personally I'd jump out of bed and run round the room to avoid it! I also thought the same about the slug If I'm ill I like to watch Escape to the Country but most times I like to curl up in the conservatory watching my chickens and any birds that come in and having a little sleep if I feel like it. patsylabrador
I always do my PlayStation games, they take my mind off feeling rubbish because of he escapism into bizarre worlds I suppose, I don't know but it works for me.
Egluntyne
Homes under the Hammer, Heir Hunters. Just over the dreaded flu bug that is doing the rounds. Yes, it was the flu, and not just a slight sniffle. 3 days of being unable to lift my head off the pillow etc. Still have a hacking cough. I watched an entire series of Heir Hunters. Fortunately there was a new series showing.

Daphne
If I am bed bound then I have the radio on and sleep through loads of it, but feel grateful to hear a voice and be distracted (it's always radio 4), but if I am on the sofa it has to be easy soothing stuff involving houses or antiques! Valkyrie
Lots of lurgies going around at the moment. Just getting over one here too. Persistent little germs this time! Thankfully I haven't needed to go downstairs because of coughing and not wanting to disturb his lordship's sleep. But when I have done in the past I make a nest for myself on the sofa and have Sky news muted. Sometimes Fox news. The guys have quite lulling voices (remember school documentaries where it's hard to stay awake in a dark room?) and I doze and cough and at least manage some sleep. This last one I couldn't focus on anything and had a couple of Cary Grant films on. One was To Catch a Thief and the other was An Affair to Remember. Snoozed through most. Edited to add that was during the day!

Alis girls
Get well soon Percy - nursed ES thro tonsilectomy poor boy - he was quite young. There are some virulant bugs going round - wonder if last yrs flu jab didnt work either. Have it (the jab) every year and this by far has been a bad year health wise. Doesnt help with the stress of work, bereavement and my YS having some depression (thankfully seems to be on mend with seeing a great shrink and meds) the warm spring weather has lifted the gloom a little and I pootle around do bits n bobs and rest. Hens need a thorough clean but will have to wait till Hen mummy is a bit more with it. Wish everyone better.
Grandmashazzie
Am chilling out and watching To Kill A Mockingbird on Netflix. Old movies are very relaxing. What a lovely voice Gregory Peck has.
