Cat tails
Was watching an episode of Bondi Vet and there was this lady with her four silkies that she had dyed... Mom was blue, the chicks, pink yellow and green... She said it was harmless she just washed them with shampoo and conditioner and added some food colouring to the conditioner. I really don't understand these people! Click to see a photo
Chickabee
What!!! So washing and dying a chicken is acceptable behaviour. Oh yes I bet they loved it. I'm so angry I'm going to go and shave my Labrador ! Aargh
Lewis
While they look ridiculous there are far worse things in the world! We've been colouring sheep, horses and dogs for years and noone takes much notice. If it's natural/non-harmful dye, live and let live
Chickabee
I think all of that is awful too Lewis. My pet dog doesn't even like the hose. He's a 33kg Labrador . I know the y used to paint horses for western films, I was so disappointed when I heard this at a young age

But why would you wash a chicken with human products just for the fun of it? They don't need washing, That vet shouldn't give people ideas, because not all will use the non-harmful dye... Lewis
Exhibition animals are regularly washed before shows, be it horses, dogs, cats or chickens... I wouldn't use human products though. I just find it interesting that people get upset about dying chickens or painting horses for films, but tend to love images like:
AndyRoo
Not sure about shampooing chickens, but at least the 'dyes' will have been harmless.
SeramaSilly
I'm sure they enjoy being blow-dryed though! x
gavclojak
Here we go....I'm gonna be vilified now but I think they look hilarious, ok it's not something I would do, I really couldn't be bothered but then I don't carry chihuahua,s around in a bag either. I don't know how the hens feel but I can imagine the hens telling each other when their roots need doing P.s There is a poodle parlour in Essex that paints your dogs nails!!!!! Chickabee
Yes your right people do very nasty things to animals that they should be locked up for. Don't like the diagram on the horse though Lewis. Whilst writing this post I've just seen my new pup put both paws in her water bowl whilst having a drink and now she's run upstairs ! Must go
Luvachicken
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, they look like candy floss !! Not what I was expecting. Kind of cute but not really and I suppose she can tell who is who. She must have a lot of time on her hands, as I know from having to bath a poorly chicken that it can take forever to dry them. Beantree
All show birds are washed and blow dried a few days before each show, so in the Poultry world that is the norm. Presume the dye is harmless and is possibly the same stuff the owner uses in her hair? They do look rather cute and I have seen Silkies died before, but they were all purple; an experiment by the owner's daughter!
BridieLou
Deary me! Fancy dying your own hair to match your favourite chicken..?! Now there's an idea...
Daphne
.....I pity those owners whose favourite birds are millefleurs then
chooksRCute
OMG.... was my first reaction then...dare I say I think they look kind of cute. So long as no harm is done, it looks like they're well cared for!
