Dyed aussie chickens

Recommended Posts

Was watching an episode of Bondi Vet and there was this lady with her four silkies that she had dyed... Mom was blue, the chicks, pink yellow and green...

She said it was harmless she just washed them with shampoo and conditioner and added some food colouring to the conditioner. I really don't understand these people!

While they look ridiculous there are far worse things in the world!

We've been colouring sheep, horses and dogs for years and noone takes much notice.

If it's natural/non-harmful dye, live and let live :D

Of course you are right Lewis, chickens won't complain. But why would you wash a chicken with human products just for the fun of it? They don't need washing,

That vet shouldn't give people ideas, because not all will use the non-harmful dye...

Exhibition animals are regularly washed before shows, be it horses, dogs, cats or chickens... I wouldn't use human products though.

I just find it interesting that people get upset about dying chickens or painting horses for films, but tend to love images like:

Here we go....I'm gonna be vilified now but I think they look hilarious, ok it's not something I would do, I really couldn't be bothered but then I don't carry chihuahua,s around in a bag either. I don't know how the hens feel but I can imagine the hens telling each other when their roots need doing

P.s There is a poodle parlour in Essex that paints your dogs nails!!!!!

Yes your right people do very nasty things to animals that they should be locked up for.

Don't like the diagram on the horse though Lewis.

Whilst writing this post I've just seen my new pup put both paws in her water bowl whilst having a drink  and now she's run upstairs ! Must go

All show birds are washed and blow dried a few days before each show, so in the Poultry world that is the norm. Presume the dye is harmless and is possibly the same stuff the owner uses in her hair? They do look rather cute and I have seen Silkies died before, but they were all purple; an experiment by the owner's daughter!
