Hi,

I bought an Eglu Cube earlier last year and have been very happy so far. Recently however, I've noticed it getting quite wet inside and especially the nesting box which was very wet yesterday morning. I looked up and the inside of the roof was running wet with condensation :?

I'm not overly happy as i wanted it to be warm and dry for the girls and it is definitely not dry. Has anyone else had any problems or is there anything i can do?

Thanks,

Rachel

Hi,

Is the cube covered with anything, as condensation can happen if you block the ventilation holes.

I have a cube and have not noticed any condensation but I very rarely shut the door. When it rains I do get a bit of water ingress under the pull out trays but this is down to my cube not being quite level ( the ground where it is, is on a slight slope).

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I do shut the door at night but the cube is not covered. I also don't put anything in the trays, i leave them empty. The worst seems to be the nesting box area which is very damp and the inside of the roof as i said is visibly very wet. I don't want to leave the door open as i do worry about foxes getting into their run and Gladys has decided now would be a good time to moult so i want to try and keep her as warm as possible.

I guess i'll keep an eye on it but if it's a constant problem over winter i think i'll have to sell it and get a wooden house which is a real shame.

I have filled in hole in the nesting box with a cut off piece if kneeling mat, partly due to predator risk, bedding falling through but also one of my cubes is on concrete and occasionally after very heavy rain it would be a bit damp. This has solved the problem so I assumed water was either running off the roof or bouncing up from the concrete.
