Ursula123
Thought Valkyrie and Plum may be interested to see my bargain purchase, apparently it is in full working order
Grandmashazzie
Lovely, great renovation project. Reminds me of my gran. I would love it as a piece of art/ furniture. ( I can’t sew )
The Dogmother
Oh wow, that reminds me of the old treadle Singer that my mother had!
Plum
So pretty lucky you and looks like it's treacle powered. I had an old singer one from a jumble sale when I was a teenager used to sew all my clothes on it. Many happy hours for you
Olly
Ooh, that looks lovely. I still have my mum's very old hand-crank machine and it works like a dream. (I also love the idea of treacle power! Sorry Plum, but you have made me smile )

Ursula123
Cheaper than a ton of treacle here in France, I paid the grand total of 25 euros
Plum
Wow and even if it doesn't work it's a lovely piece of art
Valkyrie
What a little beauty - I guess the treacle makes it run very smoothly. If you want to see how to clean her up, Lizzie Lennard on Youtube is great. Has she got a name yet?
Luvachicken
That is a beautiful sewing machine - I can't sew either
Ursula123
Sadly the wood is too far gone and damaged with woodworm, the guy selling admitted it worked when he got it but he mislaid some items mainly the cylindrical/bullet shaped bobbin. OH has suggested he could replace the wooden top and maybe use it as a table for the television.
Valkyrie
Have a look at Helen Howes website because she deals with vintage sewing machines - she has been very helpful to me in the past. With regard to the old table bit - I've seen people put new tops in and add a bit of height - which I think is a great idea as my knees keep touching the underneath part which protects my machine when dropped down. I think it also protects your legs and floor from dripping oil! One lady in the US has a little box which sets into the table according to whatever treadle machine she's using. She then fits in a small surround so that the machine is level with the table - goodness knows if she needs to fiddle with the belt, but I'm guessing as all are the same height then the belt remains the same. Valkyrie
Another lady Lizzie Lenard on Youtube only uses vintage machines - she does a nice series of how to clean them. She also has a blog but she is how I found Helen Howes. Then in Pinterest I've just seen this: https://susies-scraps.com/2016/04/02/framing-pinwheels-quilt-pattern/?subscribe=success#blog_subscription-3 Scroll down - lovely treadle!
