Mrs Frugal
When you open the eggport and see your first egg there, the egg dance will come naturally! You'll be running round the garden, arms in the air going "Woohooooo!" - that's the egg dance .
xChicken04x
My egg dance was jumping up and down saying "YAAAAAAAAAAAAY" with a big grin on my face!!!!! xx
Richard
Just make sure it isn't a thin shelled one when you grasp it in your sticky paw!
Tony
My wife came rushing into the bedroom at 7 am with cupped hands yelling "I got one, I got one"!
chelsea
Yeah, I think everyone's dance is unique !! I lifted off the lid of the eglu, saw an egg and ran like the wind with some hops and skips to the backdoor with egg in one hand, the other arm waving in the air to get my phone! It was then followed by some dance moves in the kitchen, where it was more upper body swaying and shaking and a twistin !!!
James H
Thanks everyone, My egg dance will come from the heart, I even got this rubber bouncy egg to celebrate with when it happens!!!!
Shirl
My daughter has one of those rubber eggs so I think I might start trying out a few dances just to make sure I choose the best one I've got loads of time because they probably won't lay'til spring next year
chelsea
yes Shirl, between now and spring you could get a whole dance troupe and choregraph (sp?) a whole group egg dance to perfection!!

Tony
I think the egg dance is more of a subconscious spontaneous reaction rather than a choreographed fixed set of moves. No one knows exactly what their dance will be like until it actually happens and everyone's dance is unique. People may have preconceptions as to what they think their reaction will be, If you spend 4, 6 or maybe more weeks looking in the nest everyday and there is nothing there, the day there is an egg you'll be so shocked and excited that all those preconceptions go out the window and natural reaction and spontaneity take over... It's at that exact moment in time you"ll find out what your egg dance will be...
Classy Chick
With you there Tony - it is a totally unexpected and spontaneous movement. Usually followed by rather bemused reactions from non-omleteers! I was so surprised, I accused the kids of putting an egg in the eglu from the fridge to trick me! But it was a genuine Ella egg! No best before date stamped on that one! Anyway, who cares how you dance?! But I did go back once I had calmed myself down and said thank you to Ella for her egg - I think that it is good not to take these wondrous gifts for granted even if eggs are what chickens are good at! Poplars
with our very first egg it was like OMG I got an egg woohooo now I am going to be late for school if I don't move (I was sitting in the car and mum was just about to pull out of the drive when Dad rushed round shouting) But with pearl I found it and found it necerssary to wake everyone up and shout look what I found! I then got to eat it for breakfast unfortunately it was only a mouthful...
Jools
One of my dogs does a great egg dance His dance starts before he gets the egg, jumping up and down in hope that today is an egg day. Then when he realises it is, the dances off with the egg in his mouth. He gently puts it down on the lawn and proceeds to dance all round it, waving his front legs at it and nudging it with his nose (trying to make it run so he can play chase). Eventually he gets fed up with the egg's lack of activity and he starts dancing round the garden playing catch with it. Eventually the egg gives in and gets eaten
The Dogmother
I like that Jools Tony has it in one - it's a spontaneous dance of delight.. my first ever egg was celebrated by me dancing round the garden in my nightie and wellies, soon closely followed by Phil and Rosie in a sort of conga I still remember the thrill
