Alis girls
Having 2 toes on both feet done this Thursday. Four weeks off work. Has anyone had it done, how was it and was it very painful? Despite being a nurse I don't know anyone whose had it done recently.
soapdragon
Nothing to add on the medical front, I'm afraid, but just wanted to wish you well and hope that all goes smoothly and that you are soon back on your feet. Will think of you and send positive vibes your way on Thursday!

Alis girls
Well I am day 5 post op. Getting bored with reading watching TV. Tried to stay off feet as much as poss. Bandaged up and sporting 2 surgical shoes that would be very out of place on Paris catwalk. Hobbling around with one crutch. I don't really need it but stops anyone treading on me. Cats hate crutch run a mile. OH in charge of 2 chickens one died last week. Another quarantined as taken to vet and on antibiotics. Hes managed to drop the only eggs we have from other hen🙄 The op itself was fine. The worse bit was local anaesthetic put in between toes with large needle. He hit a nerve at one point. During op I had to stop and say could feel cutting . The surgeon had already thought I could as was twitching. Now occasional pain but not taking anything. On plus side I am sleeping better which is probably cos not working and I have a tendency to bring it home with me (nurse).
Valkyrie
Crikey - not fun when you feel what they are doing! But at least you are on the mend - faster with better sleep too. I went to see my mum today - OH didn't collect eggs, he did rescue Curly from the clutches of the evil twins and got attacked once again by Trigger (fate is now sealed) so it's a husband thing I guess. You need to start walking on your hands for a bit of variety - or play shuffle bottom. Never mind the catwalk - I'm barefoot most times, not a hippy, but I do like my feet freeeeeee! I used to love my dad and grandparent's grass - so soft and cool. But then I did have to have lots of foot washes because I wasn't allowed to go to bed looking like I'd "joined the Blackfoot tribe"!!! Alis girls
Well 2weeks post op. Sutures out and in trainers. Told to listen to my feet and when they hurt rest which is what I do. Celebrated my freedom yesterday from the house with OH after hospital appt by going and getting a Costa. Two week to go before return to work. My boss hasn't even asked how I am . Nice that. My managers word in an email were " hope you are enjoying your time at home with family and cats " . Makes its sound like I am on holiday. On the plus side my feet look good. Bit bloodied and battered but much straighter.
Valkyrie
That's good news. Shame about your boss. When I was off with a bad back I had been signed off by the doc. 6 weeks it took, but the under manager came to visit and I was sitting at the table on a hard chair, so he thought there was nothing wrong with me. Well it was either that chair which was the only place that was comfy to me - and easier to get up and shuffle to the bathroom - or bed and I couldn't move there. Soft armchair/settee made it worse! So some people are like that unfortunately. I expect you have good days and bad days, but the bad days lessen and you'll be bouncing around in no time. Alis girls
Sadly I have an infection in left foot. On antibiotics and copious amounts of Actimel as causing tummy rumblings etc. Feeling a bit deflated. Manager sent me a e learning to do by Friday for CQC so I sent a terse email about feeling under weather and shouldnt be expected to do this. And they wonder why staff leave at this place. Daphne
Hi AG - I didn't want to post earlier, as a friend had this done and she was on crutches for weeks and not back at work for 6 weeks. She was in pain and really limited in what she could do for a long time, mobility wise as well as feeling tired etc, relying on hubby and children, and she is a rufty tufty vet, so I think you should definitely go straight back to your work colleague, in no uncertain terms, and tell them exactly how it is. You are on sick leave, and do not have to do anything work-related; remember you have the upper hand in your profession there are not enough people doing your job! On the plus side, I really hope you are feeling better physically soon. I would do some wallowing, catching up on TV progs, reading, gazing out of the window, encouraging somebody else to make you a cake or whatever goodie you fancy, listen to the radio, whatever makes you feel good, then do that! mullethunter
Totally agree with Daphne - if you’re signed off sick you shouldn’t be doing any work. Sorry to hear you’ve got an infection- hope the antibiotics work quickly and you start to feel better soon.
Valkyrie
What a cheek! He needs a wake up call! Or block his email temporarily. On the other hand you are not well enough to open up emails of course. Seriously that is bang out of order - could that be considered harrassment? Sorry you are having to endure that nonsense and the infection too, so I hope the aunty bees soon clear it up and you are back on target. When I was on maternity leave my branch phoned me because they didn't know how to load paper into the cashpoint machine! Like duh - there were detailed drawings actually on the machine showing quite clearly the way round the roll should be placed and every point where it should be wound into! I mean, if I could do it - then anyone could! Extra annoying was I was snoozing on the sofa and I'd left the branch 2 months before!
Alis girls
I wonder if your friend had all toes done and bunions. The crutches were removed from my hot little mit when I went for suture removal. I was most put out as it kept people away from my feet. OH got me stick to use just to keep people away. Apart from one trip out for brunch which was painful +++ I've not left the house. A colleague dropped round with a box of chocs and card this pm. Suspect manager is buttering me up. Lol. Good luck with that. Oh I am a rufty tufty nurse and quite stoic I hasten to add
Luvachicken
I hope the antibiotics kick in and that your infection goes away soon. How mean of your boss to ask you to do stuff At my previous pre-school I was known as the cupboard Queen. I was off sick for a couple of days and they couldn't wait for me to get back because they didn't know how to fit all the toys back in the cupboard. OK, it was kind of like The Krypton Factor, but that just showed who it was that tidied the toys away every day.
