Down at the bottom of the product pages for many of the Omlet items, there's a bit of spiel and a map saying that if you want to contact an Omlet ambassador you can. It also says that anyone wanting "to know more about the advantages of becoming an Omlet Ambassador" should contact Omlet.

Does anyone know roughly what the advantages amount to? I know Omlet want us to contact them, but I'd like to canvas wider knowledge first.

I think they are just people with Omlet products who you can talk to or visit. There used to be a list of them on the old Forum.   They were asking for people to volunteer on the Omlet community Chicken keeping FB page a few weeks ago.   Many of their more recent customers of Mk 2, WIR and Go s seem to be going onto FB rather than here

I read the header and immediately pictured a large tray of those little foil wrapped chocolate balls except they were eggs, not chocolate. Oh dear...it's all getting a bit too much!

Sounds as though Omlet are trying to enroll users to act as advisors - could just point them to The Forum!

I certainly understand what’s involved and what Omlet get out of it. What I wanted to get a feel for is what the benefit is to the ambassador.

As for Facebook, I won’t be looking in on any groups. I’m well out of that particular nest of vipers. Thanks for the heads-up, though.

If the Ambassadors are to gain anything from the arrangement one would assume that Omlet would offer a voucher or some sort of discount in return for 'recommending' the product. However, given that the Ambassador already, by definition, has the Eglu, Cube, Qute etc would that be of much relevance?

I don't 'do' social media although I did join Facebook purely as they have a village page and it has been very useful in terms of local goings on - and have there been some! - but that's as far as I go. I have no details or pictures posted (nor will I ever) and, if I get a 'friend' request from someone that I know, I politely message then back explaining that, fond of them though I am, I just don't do social media but am very happy to give them my e mail or, gasp, telephone number so that they can contact me direct. If I get a 'friend' request from someone that I don't know then I ignore.

The Forum is my only other social media but then I don't think of it as such but, rather, my friends on the computer!

I know what you mean though. I avoided social stuff like the plague until the beginning of this year when I wanted to grow my business and DD, who is my expert set up a page and group for me. I don't use it for anything social, and it is doing very well.

Back to the ambassador thing - I used to be an Omlet Host, who would show prospective owners their set-up. I don't recall getting anything in return for it though. I stopped doing it because I didn't like folks coming to the house.

The details used to be public and probably still are on the website but basically people contact you, you show them your Omlet housing, answer any questions and get a commission of any sales they purchase - I think 5% from memory.
