Dancing Gal
We don't have an omlet house but an ARK. Eglu was a bit too pricey. But anyway I'm happy with the ARK. But any hoo - will my girls be warm enough at night now it's getting a bit nippier? I have to confess to being a bit soft about them, and I do drag a tarpaulin over the run (to keep the rain off) and their little house each night. I can't bear to think they aren't snug as a bug when we are all tucked up indoors. Spoilt girls I know
Egluntyne
They should be OK...they are wearing their Duvets already. They just fluff them up if they need to.
Guest
i'm the same as you, I stress about that too- egluntine will tell you, I'm a total worry wart! Especially as a cple of my girls don't have many feathers (they're ex batts)but our wood is treated and they have hemcore (and each other) to snuggle into at night, so DH reckons they'll be fine. Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling Egluntine- is he right?
Egluntyne
Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling Egluntine- is he right? Probably, especially as your girls accommodation seems to be in a sheltered spot. However, with them being ex batts they will be a bit more vulnerable to the cold until their new feathers grow. You could always drape an old duvet over their bedroom if you are really worried. Or you could try one of THESE. Emma knitted a jumper for one of hers. I'm sure she'd give you the pattern. Guest
didn't mean to make you blush! Your name just reminds me of that gold miner's daughter p.s. all the old duvets in this house are still being used on the beds!
theherd123
I have 2 snugglesafes for my girls and i pop them under the roosting bars when it gets really cold just to make sure they are nice and cosy. Yes i know i have pampered poultry!
chelsea
Im a worrier too.... ESPECIALLY about my pets! When it gets really cold at night we cover the eglu with a duvet! and waterproof tarpaulin. Im sure the chickens would be fine without it. But I can sleep better at night knowing they are all snug! Its bad enough they have to sleep in the garden and not inside anyway!!
redfrock
didn't mean to make you blush! Your name just reminds me of that gold miner's daughter My grandad used to sing that to me when I was a little girl sat on his knee -in his Cypriot burr. I have a big soft spot for the song - and my Grandad!
Ain't Nobody Here
I saw those snuggle things and thought it was a great idea. Showed it to hubby whose reaction was less than enthusiastic . Maybe I could put one in their christmas stocking? Haven't run that idea past him yet .

Tweety
I'm so pleased that my girls don't have access to this forum - although by the sound of things, I wouldn't be surprised if some do have internet in their duvet-covered eglus! I thought I spoiled my girls, but I can see that I have a long way to go yet!

Edge Wife
What's a snugglesafe??? Edgeman thinks I am crazy for worrying about whether the girls are warm enough or not. He advised me to take a look at this forum to be reassured that they are OK and I don't need to knit bootees . Well, I might just do that having read these posts. Of course my girlie girls will get christmas presents. At this rate probably some pyjamas and a hot water bottle (I have seriously ccontemplated a water bottle in a cover under the roosting bars. What do you think?).
Ain't Nobody Here
Look here : http://www.amazinghealth.co.uk/snugglesafe-heatpad.htm If I bought one for my girls my hubby would have a complete fit!
