redfrock
Ember and Smudge managed to get out of their run over night I found Smudge happily munching in the garden this morning but Ember is missing. They are always together, absolutely inseparable so I am fearing the worst. I have looked round the garden and it looks like she may have scrabbled under the back gate. Behind is a typical muddy footpath - you know the type - a complete wilderness - and a huge cricket pitch, both used no end by dog walkers. I have put up notices and knocked on some of the neighbours, I've also rung round the vets. I don't know what else to do. I don't know if she will know how to find her way home or if she will think to do so. I know we have foxes around here. I've not gone into work today in the hope she will come back and I get catch her. Edited December 17, 2007 by Guest
Louise
Try informing the RSPCA as well they are not much use except if someone picks her up they will almost certainly contact them and they will have your details to pass on
The Dogmother
I hope that you find her soon Claire. Do keep us posted.
chickencam
Good luck with finding your rabbit, my cat went missing earlier this year and it is heartbreaking isn't it. She came back just as we were giving up so I hope you have good luck too.

Guest
I was going to suggest going out to look as you didn't mention you'd done that already but that's probably where you are now. Try an ad in the lost and found section of your local paper as well. Also check under any upturned plant pots etc.

little chickadee
Sorry to hear about Kev Martin Our Rabbit escaped loads of times and we always managed to get her back eventually. They are cleverer than people give them credit for! I hope she comes back

redfrock
sorry to hear about kev Martin. Big hugs. Have been looking for Ember since the minute I discovered she had gone. It is really odd. There are no signs of poo in the garden so I don't think they could have been out for long. Equally there are absolutely no signs of blood or fur anywhere, not even along the footpath or the surrounding roads etc so I don't think a fox has got her. OH is blaming himself that he may not have shut the door properly but that is really unlikely. The thing we are beginning to wonder, given the lack of 'evidence' is whether somebody has pinched her and Smudge escpaed on the back of that - she is after all an unusual rabbit to look at. It is bitter here right now. I think maybe I should stop kidding myself that she is going to crawl back under the gate and home

redfrock
this afternoon Andy found what is quite likely to be Ember's remains. He said it was just a large pile of what looked like intestines which contained what looked like rabbit poo,and nothing else. There was no blood or fur, but then she was a rex I wonder if that is why there was no fur. I am devastated and Smudge is obviously pining, but thankfully his run is next door to Bibble so he still has company. Guest
where did he find it? Is it possible it could be a wild rabbit? So sorry if it is your rabbit, poor you and poor hubbie; blames himself for not locking them up then has to find the remains. You couldn't know this would happen. Don't want to worry you but keep an eye out for foxes now, as if it was a fox, it possibly knows your other rabbits are there.
redfrock
within our boundary there are no signs of wild rabbits here - we checked the cricket pitch for tell tale signs of rabbit poo maybe it will all have a fairytale ending but i don't think so thanks for all your support
