Comfort food is a big circle of mash with baked beans in middle so you can gradually mush them in, or brocolli still slightly al dente dipped in Heinz ketchup

Heinz Tomato Soup - can't beat it

 

White toasted doorstops with butter & marmite - must be unsliced bread.

 

But my best comfort food has to be a nice thick meaty stew or casserole

custard is comfort food! So is Gulasch Soup with thick crusty bread. Stew & Dumplings, Mashed Potato definitely!

OH and I have been eating a lot of custard recently, as it is low fat.

 

Frozen berries warmed up served with a dollop (3 ladle fulls ) of custard!

Definitely mashed potato with sausages and fried onions.

My homemade macaroni cheese made with loads of English

mustard and black pepper.....yum

 

But when life just gets too much...Greens packet Carmelle,

full of rubbish no doubt, but it just does it for me

Chilli con carne with rice, large dollops of creme fraiche and tortilla chips .

Any time I'm feeling down or confused or whatever out comes the steak mince and Doritos...............and the family know to treat me carefully .

Just had that exact meal tonight, son needed a serious talking to about buckling down to some school work. He's not happy right now, especially since his xbox has mysteriously disappeared today (to his grandmothers in Orpington) and will be off to NZ in 6 weeks if he doesn't revise.

I think I need seconds of that Chilli .

Such a good thing that I don't really have a sweet tooth, I love my spicy stuff though.

And rare steak with mushrooms or beef wellington (that's posh comfort food though).
