pepe
Any of you have a Brabantia bin? I need a new bin for my kitchen and have been looking at these for a while, but are they worth the money, and will they last like they are supposed to? Tessa the Duchess
Any of you have a Brabantia bin? I need a new bin for my kitchen and have been looking at these for a while, but are they worth the money, and will they last like they are supposed to? I used to have a small Brabantia pedal bin which lasted ages and always looked shiny after a quick wipe down. I have never had one of the really cool big bins with the nifty opening thingy. They are expensive but look so much nicer than a plastic bin imho I say go for it Tessa
chrisnrob
We bought a 30l stainless steel Brabantia bin when we re-did our kitchen. It always looked good, especially after we'd wiped it over with baby oil (try it - it's great on stainless steel!) After a couple of years, we started to notice what looked like slight rust marks on one side of it. I emailed Brabantia and they arranged to collect it. Several days later a lovely lady rang to say that they would be sending us a replacement bin. When the bin arrived it was in a Brabantia box which had been placed inside a plain cardboard box. The Brabantia box had obviously been opened with a stanley knife at some stage because they had cut through the protective foam on top of the bin, scratching the lid I rang them up and they apologised and arranged to send a further replacement. I asked if they would be collecting the first one and she told us to keep it So I'd definitely recommend them. I am, however, having trouble finding biodegradable liners that fit it properly... fairy&cake
we had one, no its in the poly tunnel with compost in it. I found the brabantias bin bags were tricky, and other bin liner slid off i dont get on ith them to be honest, and dunelm/ wilkinsons do ones that are half the price and very similar
sparkleeeeee
we had a 30l one as a wedding pressie. the push lid broke recently (after 4 years) and it was £25 to replace so i replaced it with a bigger bin (45l) from argos for £25. the Brabantia bins are nice but expensive compared to similar bins around, i think in this case it might be more money for the name. i got a 30l ss bin from asda for corn for £15, the Brabantia version was £65 If you would like a Brabantia bin makro have the 50l bin in the sale at the moment, i think it was £39.99 +vat f&c how do you get on with a polytunnel? i have just bought a 10ft * 6.6ft for the garden as i thought i might get a better crop this year with one. fairy&cake
very good! we have a massive one down the side of our house. and the veggies and tomatos grew so fast!!! it got so hot in there we had to keep opening the doors! I hope it goes well!
little chickadee
We've got a big one with a push click lid which we purchased because we thought our thieving greyhound wouldn't be able to get into it. We were right - she can't work it out, so I would recommend it from that point of view. We buy the special binbags from amazon and, although they are more expensive than normal bin bags, they last for ages if you recycle everything anyway!!! (we've recently started doing Bokashi compost) I like them, and I don't know much about the competition.
Cinnamon
We have one,in fact we have had it for years now. Its brilliant - simple to clean,& the lid is nice & 'clicky' It looks pretty cool too - I would recommend them to anyone
sparkleeeeee
you dont have to buy the special bin liners, i used the cheap bin bags from asda in mine

We needed a new lid a while back & got a brand new Brabantia one from eBay for half that price, including shipping I used to work in a hardware shop when I was a teenager, & I dealt with the Brabantia stuff. We never had any returns on it,unlike certain other brands,& in the end we s"Ooops, word censored!"ped all the others & just stocked Brabantia. The quality of the stuff is way supirioir to all the others, IMHO
hillfamily
When the kitchen was replaced last year my little luxury at the end was a Brabantia Bin - but not just any Brabantia Bin................I bought the new one that has a sensor in the lid. You just place your hand or anything else a few inches above the bin lid and it automatically opens and then when you're done it closes by itself Greatly amuses all ages from friends young children, through teenagers (esp teenagers - one of ollie's friends was very disappointed when visiting last week as the batteries had gone flat and I hadn'y changed them......so he couldn't play (even though he's 16 years old ) and even the builders were seen to keep tidying up their rubbish so they could play with bin. It's a bit pricey but when you factor in the entertainment value
bronze
My mil has one and told us not to get one when we bought a new bin before Christmas.
jomaxsmith
I used to have a 20 litre chrome one that was a nightmare to get liners to fit and also which got based about and dented (not the bin's fault, though!) We redid our kitchen last year and I bought a gorgeous powder blue 30l one from John Lewis which is lovely. I've got 2 small boys so didn't go for one with a sensor but got the one that you push and the lid pops up. I love it! Tesco now do liners for 'tall and skinny' bins which fit it so I don't need to search for liners that fit without sticking out over the edges. Would thoroughly recommend Jo

Jonny
Amazon ofetn do cheap Brabantia bins. I got a 50l one with a free 3 litre one just after Christmas - £
jomaxsmith
I don't care that much about them sticking out a bit I kow, it does seem a bit of a pathetic thing to worry about - but if you spend out on a 'posh' bin then I want it to look good. Mine is in full view when you walk in the kitchen, plus I find I get more rubbish into the bag when it fits the bin well. Digging myself into a non-green hole here! Perhaps I ought to say that my Brabantia bin only holds things I can't compost or recycle!! Jo
The Dogmother
I've got a tiny one in the kitchen (we hardly have any binable waste), and have found biodegradable liners to fit it in most places. It's fab and works well.
