Guest
Saw the first lambs of the spring this morning, in a field down the road, and the snowdrops are already our in my parents garden!
susanbb
That's absolutely wonderful. Makes you fell so good when you see them springing about in the fiels
Tessa the Duchess
No lambs here unfortunately but it was a beautiful warm sunny day and the forsythia leaves have started to come out Tessa

Popcorn
I noticed our snowdrops today too. So lovely Shona. I also noticed for the first time how light it was at 4pm on Wednesday, just when I'd finished teaching at work. We normally start in daylight and finish in darkness. missuscluck
Its been lovley here most of the week. The hens have been our 'extending' the veg patch for me and the G.Ps have been out in their run sunbathing. Egluntyne
We've got a few snowdrops. No lambs to be seen locally yet. It was soooo warm today....a workman up the road had his shirt off! It wasn't a pretty sight before you ask. We are in for a scorcher tomorrow apparently too.
The Dogmother
There have been lambs around here for a couple of weeks now, but mostly in barns or close pastures. My snowdrops are late but there were daisies in the grass in the park today.

Took this today of my girls 3 fluffy bottoms cute pic Lynda our girls have been out most of the day while DH made a start on extending the run. Was windy but the wind didn't have that chill on it. Guest
You can feel the sap rising Steady now! You should see what the budgie has started doing to his swing! I had to do a google as I wasn't sure if he had an itch, turns out he does, but not the sort I thought he had!
Eyren
You should see what the budgie has started doing to his swing! I had to do a google as I wasn't sure if he had an itch, turns out he does, but not the sort I thought he had! I'm glad I wasn't sipping my morning cuppa when I read that! I haven't seen any lambs, but East Anglia isn't exactly sheep country! I did spot a stray crocus on the lawn the other day though, when I was letting the girls out for a morning stroll. And the daffs in the front garden have had yellow buds for about a fortnight
Jules.
Although birdsong is a lovely sound there is one noisy bird who has just taken to standing on the roof/gutter right out side my open bedroom window at silly o'clock to chirrup his little heart out! Isn't it great now it's starting to get light at 7am! No more waitning at the bus stop to go to work in the dark anymore- in the dark it makes seeing the bus number soooo hard, even more when it's raining. Everyone at the bus stop has to confer what the bus number is before some brave soul puts a hand out to stop it. It's so dark there once I tried to catch a skip lorry
Lesley
- not very comfortable Jules! We had courting robins yesterday - right outside my window ....and the bees are active when the sun shines in their (reduced for winter) front door....... the cats are soooo interested in them..... and Tom was stung yesterday
Karen & co.
We''ve had lambs in the fields for a while now, it's lovely to see The snow drops are popping up, some are strugling to make it through builders rubble and compacted ground from the extention I had a lovely tub of tiny daffs outside the backdoor, and found 2 of the chooks sitting in there yesterday after having a good scratch around Karen x
Cinnamon
Our Snowdrops have been out for about a week now, which means I am on 'snowdrop patrol' again There is a big patch of them over the road from my house & I can see them from my office. Trouble is,locals like to pick them, & I think thats wrong Adults on a country walk are as bad as the children, although the childen scare more easily when I shout at them They were planted by the chap who lived here many, many years ago (He had too many in the garden), & I feel a bit protective about them. My garden is full of them too & I just adore them
Jules.
I planted some snowdrop bulbs last year- so far I've not seen one. I think the chicken's pottering about in the borders has something to do with it a bit like Karen's daffodils but the crocus and daffodil bulbs I planted at the same time are showing up. I read somewhere that it's easier to plant snowdrops from plants rather than bulbs- it's proving true in my case. I love these seasonal threads
Christian
Yep, snowdrops I bought last year are out and have picked my third vase of daffs today! Its cold but going to be a lovely day, perfect for cleaning out the run
Blackrocksrock
No daffys yet up here but loads of white heads shifting in the wind and I also planted snowdrops across the road from where we stay on the verge and daffs as its nice to see but no-one picks them as we are in the country

It drives me mad that they pick 'my' wild flowers

Ain't Nobody Here
Lots of green shoots but not a snowdrop in sight . Takes longer for them reach us . Those of you further up north may see some in May . Love that budgie story, Poet . He's obviously been told about the birds 'n' the bees . chocchick
Is that a Spring thing particularly in budgies? Our rhubarb is now growing after I emptied some compost on it last week. I had a lovely sit in the chicken pen on Saturday while all 3 chickens sunbathed, about a metre away from me. Little Megan was resting her head on the fluffy bum of Abbie as a pillow, and burying her head under her feathers like she was hiding under a duvet. Of course I didn't have a camera and they didn't recreate it apart from Katy who will sunbathe at any opportunity, and a brief sit down from the other two. Katy and Megan.... http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o224/chocchick_album/chickens/sunbathing1.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o224/chocchick_album/chickens/sunbathing2.jpg
