mad house
Did anyone see Jimmys farm last night? Did you get a fleeting glance of his eglu? Talk about a problem with foxes, why dos'nt he get more eglus to keep the foxes out....I personally think if I had his farm..dreaming again...I would'nt need them but would make sure my girls were under cover each night...or mabe get Omlet to design a massive eglu just for me and. Keep watching nest week we may get a better or longer look
Mel (& Paul)
We didnt watch all of it - had recorded it, but didnt get time before bed - so will have a look. It was hard seeing a lot of his chooks killed and I know the stockman was spending a lot of time rounding them all up which I guess is half the problem - its hard enough with 8 in a back garden, let alone with over 100 in a farm! Aunty e
Arrrrgh! NO! I completely forgot to watch! Does anyone know when/if it is repeated?
Mel (& Paul)
It may be repeated on BBC3 or BBC4? Sorry, we record it on Skyplus, otherwise I'd send you the tape.
buffie
Saw it, missed the Eglu Not sure how I managed to do that! I saw him in June last year, when the episode was recorded, and he said he'd lost piglets and alot of the girls. He said he had to go out with his stockman at 3am and when 1 fox went another soon followed. he didn't like having to have them shot and you could see that last night. He is using cockrels now as a deterrent. Martin he doesn't want to restrict them if possible that's why he doesn't enclose them but yes a big eglu and a huge run for me too! DucktorWho
I thought I saw an Eglu! It was only there in the background for a fraction of a second but when I yelled 'Eglu!' later on and it turned out to be a pig pen I thought I had imagined it the first time too. (look, I wasn't wearing my glasses, okay? )
Cinnamon
I recorded it & will watch it later. Personaly I reckon it would be brill if Jimmy had a whole fleet of Eglus in all their colours to house his 100 hens Can you imagine how cool it would look - Eglus as far as the eyes could see
buffie
Hen heaven or an eglu the size of the static van he has them in now! Pretty cool getting a henavan though BBx
The Dogmother
I think the Omlet lads ought to go over and sort out his hen pen though!
Aunty e
Have you lot noticed we're quoted on the Jimmy's farm page on the BBC website? Down as web bites. Well not me personally. I can't find any sign of a repeat sadly. Bum.
Mel (& Paul)
oh dear what a shame I guess it will be repeated in the future -but not much consolation for you at the moment (and glad to see you manage to get bottoms into a post - very impressive - getting the mention in your post, not your bottom oh, you know what I mean )
Chicken on a mission
What a programme that was last night. It had everything. My emotions were all over the place. This has to be the best programme on telly at the mo

Martin B
IN which part do you see the eglu and then I'll have a look on Sky+ . Kind Regards Martin
Lesley
I'm with Clare - too busy shouting 'Electric Fencing' at the TV! It's all very well to like to see chickens being totally free-range but not altogether fair on the chickens if foxes are around. He seems to treat his hens as disposable - "Oh Dear! lost a few, buy a few more. "
Hellcat
Planet earth is pretty fab too i'm with you on that. Fantastic!!
The Dogmother
Yup, exactly what I said Lesley. I got quite cross, especially when all those lovely little quails died. Pearl had some last time I went to see her and they are so gorgeous. I've been recording the Planet Earth progs to watch with Rosie.
SarahJo
I was too busy shouting ELECTRIC FENCING .. what a "plank" . Sorry Jimmy .. but after the 1st fox strike, the bloke "dolly" even showed you where the lair was . I echo the sentiments of "what a waste" in my opinion he just lead the poor quails and others to the slaughter.
The Dogmother
It made me so cross sarah jo I got really wound up about it. I was relating the story to Phil yesterday. He grew up on a (poultry) farm, and said - 'well it's just common sense to use electric fencing, isn't it?' My chicken lady, Pearl has been foxed quite badly, despite really good fencing. Her place is now electrified to the hilt - no more losses to foxes!
Mrs Frugal
My farmer friend also has electric fencing all the way round his farm as he gets very upset to lose even one hen despite having a couple of hundred. Once up, the fencing pays for itself as you're not having to keep constantly restocking!
The Dogmother
It really is the way to go. I like the idea of solar powered fencing too, there's a site here, which sells solar power kits. I am interested and would certainly go that route if I needed electric fencing, in fact I'd love to have a couple of panels on the roof - not sure if we'd be allowed to though, as we live in a conservation area.
