Lovemychooks
Can anyone help.....the fox has just killed 8 of my hens (5 of them ex-batts) and my cockerel and now 2 are hanging on by a thread. One of the chickens has, from what I can see had a chunk taken out of her bottom and her neck is all bloody. The other one is still breathing but isn't doing too well....i'm sure I read on this forum that someone gave their chicken sugary water to help her.....will this help or is she too far gone ?? She is trying to hold her head up but struggling
Clur
Have you got any resue remedy? A couple of drops should help calm them a little. I guess the only thing you can do at the moment is keep them warm, calm and quiet. Sorry, hope they pull through.
figlette
Oh, I am so sorry. Best wishes for the two hanging on.
bellekatz
how horrible for you. Can you bring them inside somewhere warm and keep them in a cardboard box to keep them dark and calm? Hope they manage to pull through - it must have been a dreadful experience

Guest
oh no, not again! Can't offer any advice but I'm so sorry this happened to you again. You're going to have to beef up your fox protection I think hon!
WitchHazel
Oh how awful for you! I have no advice to offer, just sending your girls <>
Egluntyne
Oh I am so sorry. Warmth and quiet, and sweetened fluids are what they need at the mo. TBH I think if they are badly injured, you should consider to taking them to a vet. Why not try to speak to one on the phone.
Mrs Frugal
If they've been mauled by a fox, they really need to see a vet because of the risk of infection from the bacteria on the teeth of the fox. Good luck. I hope you can find an emergency surgery open. So sorry about the ones which didn't make it .

Lovemychooks
Thanks everyone...will take them to an emergency vet tomorrow. I put them in the extended run (which is quite long) while I answered the phone, was only gone for about 10 mins. I also forgot to put the foxwatch on.
