hillfamily
I am at long last after 2 years hard work, sitting in my FINISHED garden, enjoying the sunshine, chatting on the forum - thanks to my new clever laptop - having a cuppa :D :D :D It feels wonderful btw - does toast, butter and maramlade harm chooks.............because they just stole mine
Keanie Bean
well done . I bet that feels really great, mine was kinda ok until the chooks arrived, now its just a rosemary hanging on to its roots for dear life and a very well groomed path. Not sure about the marmalade Sarah.x
hillfamily
I had the same problem.........OK until chooks arrived 3 years ago..........spent a year watching the garden disappear and then spent the next 2 years, planning and trialling and building different chicken proof ideas and now I have lots and lots of plants, a veg garden and chickens
buffie
We're at that point Pam, loads of creative ideas to live in harmony. Just waiting for seed to grow and they'll have the whole garden but not our deck. BBx

hillfamily
There's some photos on this post http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21932 only really shows the cube area............will try to find some photos of the garden to post :D My veg garden is fenced off using 3ft high bamboo fence panels - high enough to keep a chook but low enough to be able to see the plants I've used loads and loads of raised planters (I've used recycled old metal bins, wooden compost bins, fruit and veg crates) and filled them to the brim with either cottage garden plants or tropical. The girls don't seem to like topical plants and they can't get into the planters filled with cottage plants

Keanie Bean
I love the chicken ornaments in your garden Pam . I think the DH would be if I was to hint at getting some of those. Thats a beautiful colour bush behind your eglu too. I wish I could go out and enjoy the sun today and have a go at getting my garden a bit tidier, but I'm stuck indoors sewing hems on curtains today . I dont fancy my chances at the weekend either as the weather is meant to take a turn on the wintry side again. I've only just taken the heavy blanket off our bed. Looks like I was a bit too soon with that. Sarah.x
BeckyBoo
How lovey to have finished your garden, and on such a beautiful day too! Enjoy! Ours is far from finished, not sure it ever will be, I always find things to do although OH says if I get any more plants it'll all explode as there's no more room! I told him, there's always room for more plants! Mrs Bertie

Cinnamon
Lucky you - we are just starting ours The whole patio are needs redoing & extending. We are changing from murky grey crazy paving to a nice light & bright sandstone which should look great. I also have heaps to do in the borders, including decimating & restocking my gone to pot herb area. Should keep us busy for a fair old while

Guest
that looks great Pam! Can't wait to see more pics. Since we got the chooks it's given us a renewed interest in our garden and we're looking forward to some good weather to enjoy it more. Apart from the girls and their ever expanding run, we've now got a mini allotment at the end of the garden with all kinds of fruit and veg growing. We've also got fruit trees and canes around the rest of the garden and up against the garage wall at the front of the house. Ian is outside at the moment erecting a greenhouse we got from freecycle Next job is to finish staining the rest of the fence and the run and then I might treat myself to some wind horses and maybe one of these, which I've had my eye on at the local garden centre for ages! http://www.thebenchcompany.co.uk/acatalog/info_54.html
ubereglu
Well done Pam! We need to move around the eglu to a different part of the garden-maybe by the veg patch as they've been on that stretch of ground for a long time! Mind you, I don't think Dad really minds not having too much grass as he gets really bad hayfever during the summer and the chickens mean that there is very little!
