Ziggy
Okie, to be honest I'm really just trying to get away from the laundry... but after reading some things on other threads (like people liking coffee with choccy bikkies and large cake slices with their tea), I'm wondering what is everybody's idea of the ultimate 'comfort drink'... (thinking tea, coffee, here, but obviously if double whiskey is your thing feel free to say)... I'm from Belgium, and grew up on coffee... Having been in the UK for 14 years, I've really become a tea person... In Belgium, or France for that matter or most other european countries, tea isn't the big thing... which anyone who's ever tasted lipton yellow label tea won't be too surprised by... Now I have tea in the morning (though occasionally I will switch to coffee for a week or so, which really confuses OH), and mostly as a comfort drink in the day, but also have about one coffee a day (either just white, or capuccino style)... With that, I like either a small belgian chocolate, or something like shortbread... (I don't have that with each cuppa, but if I do have something, that'd be my choice)... In the tea or coffee I have milk and one sugar. One thing I've noticed, is that builders always seem to have tea with milk and two sugars.... is that part of the trade? What is everybody else's favourite?
Egluntyne
Coffee always gives me palpitations...so I drink tea...with soya milk for preference.
Jules.
I have Fair-Trade decaff tea & coffee
Guest
Fair-trade coffee for breakfast and then herbal tea the rest of the day - as well as lots of water.
fairy&cake
I dont like hot drinks, my favourote drinks are: Innocent smoothie for breakfast. And ELderflower cordial. ALL day looong.
Cate in NZ
Redbush (rooibos) tea for me..... several cups a day I rarely eat biscuits or cakes with it, on it's own is fine unless it's at a meal time of course 2 or 3 times a week I'll have a glass of wine in the evening, usually with my meal
Yorkshire Pudding
Fairtrade tea, builder - style, and a digestive dunked into it. Earl Grey if we're feeling posh. OH only drinks coffee, and never instant. Guess who always makes it?!
BarbaraJ
Tea decaf with goats milk lol though a glass of wine goes down well 2/3 times a week
Goosey Lucy
Tea is almost always decaf, coffee has to be as I'm not meant to have caffeine. My favourite comfort drink though is a hot orange squash. Nothing beats it when I'm feeling poorly or blue. It's a real reminder of childhood.
bronze
When I have coffee I have it made with hot milk not water. real comfort drink. (this no caps thing doesnt allow for small child pressing capslock halfway through a post and me not realising til the end so I have to retype it all)
Guest
A giant mug of strong, steaming hot black coffee, and for a real comfort moment, a couple of digestive biscuits sandwiched together with some strawberry jam.
chickencam
Tea is my drink of choice, and I have one cup of real coffee everyday mid-morning with a slice of toast for my forum time. The last couple of days most of the day has been forum time, avoiding the ironing and bathroom cleaning and bed changing and everything else I should be doing I love a glass of wine in an evening, not really with food though, red in the winter and chilled white in the summer. My daughter said when she thinks of me she thinks tea and eggs, I wasn't sure what to make of that

Tessa the Duchess
I chain drink Sainsbury's Red label (now Fairtrade|) tea all day long, weak with no sugar. I sometimes drink Jasmine Tea if I'm in the mood and I try and drink at least one cup of Green Tea every day. Around 9.00pm I change over to white wine spritzer, how many I drink very much depends on how my day has been I never drink coffee as it gives me palpitations too, shame really as I love the smell of fresh made coffee. superjules
If I'm feeling really indulgent it's a douwe egberts coffee made with half milk/half water with a dash of gingerbread or hazelnut syrup..... ....with a chocolate digestive of course!! Ziggy
My daughter said when she thinks of me she thinks tea and eggs, I wasn't sure what to make of that Never mind, I'm sure it could be worse... Nice variety of tastes here on the forum!! Hubby doesn't touch instant coffee either... only the good stuff... though to be fair we take turns at making it... I was never a hot drink person in my young days, except of small coffee or hot chocolate in the morning... I grew up on Coke (and still have reasonable teeth)... but I'm really making up for the hot drinks now... When out, I love a huge mug of hot chocolate with cream on top... that's one thing I really like but can never be bothered to make at home... Guest
A venti peppermint latte.... OK I'll Have one of them again one day. Currently black coffee with sweeteners or nettle tea - the latter is Organic.
Seagazer
Mostly cups of tea, I do like a coffee once a day made with milk. Then lots of water and a couple of glasses of cranberry and raspberry squash. Try to resist drinking wine (any - not fussed) until Friday night - ok and the rest of the weekend! Keanie Bean
Oh dear I feel like a total alcoholic now. Relaxing to me involves cider usually and lots of it . If it's not alcohol I usually just drink water with the occasional herbal tea thrown in. Sarah.x
Lesley
I have a cup of Whittards Rose, Hibiscus and Vanilla tea first thing, with a spoonful of honey in it - because it tastes nothing like tea ( ) Then water or cranberry juice all day. Cranberry juice last thing at night. For a comforting hot drink then it has to be a decent Hot Chocolate.....
Olly
gosh, all this herb tea - you are a healthy lot! One 'real' coffee a day, if I don't have one then I'm likely to get a migraine from caffeine withdrawal. Tea the rest of the time, used to be Yorkshire Gold but I've just tried the Fairtrade Gold and it's very nice. And then about once a week, a G&T in the evening. My best friend and I often have this debate - if you could only have one type of drink, what would it be? We can never decide between tea and gin - both have their uses

Ziggy
I don't think I could choose one drink... I like many things, and would miss them all if I had to do without... I guess if I was stranded on a desert island there wouldn't be much choice... water it would have to be... unless Jack Sparrow comes up with his supply of rum

Fleur
I generally have herbal or fruit teas as i don't like the taste of coffee or normal tea. Ringtons is my favourite tea shop and i love their rare teas, jasmine dragon pearls are my fave when i have the money. At the moment, being a little cash-strapped i have been drinking their 'Bird of Paradise' tea.
