Husband of the Year Awards ...

Recommended Posts

Those made me laugh... it reminded me of something that happened to us once on holiday, way before we had any kids... we'd been travelling in Spain and somehow OH injured his back... he was in a lot of pain, and couldn't carry anything, so at some point we got out of a train and decided we'd just find a hotel and collapse... as he was hurt, I decided to carry both backpacks, one on my back, one on front, looking a bit like a fully loaded donkey... OH walked just a couple of steps ahead of me, carrying the map... on the other side of the road, an elderly lady who was walking by with her family just went :shock::evil::evil: , pointing to OH and saying a few things to her family in Spanish... I smiled, hoping they'd understand there was an explanation... but now I still wonder if there is a lovely little elderly lady in Spain still telling the same story about the evil englishman who let his young wife carry all the bags, while he led with the map!!

:D

they are funny

I remember once years back a guy came up to me and my ex in B&Q car park and offered to help me load the bags of cement all the time giving my ex glares for having me do it

He had recently been stretchered to hospital after a bad fall so could't lift and even if he could I would still ahve been doing it as I am actually quite strong and these thgings are a doddle to lift when you do it correctly 8)

I turned the offer of help down and explained

I had something similar Louise; the ex and I had gone shopping for some 6' fence panels and I was 8 months pregnant and HUGE. For some reason, he thought (nay insisted  ) that I'd be able to help him get them on the roof rack by lifting one end up over my head :shock:

He refused to ask for help and I said that if I did it, I'd be giving birth in a B&Q car park!!! I asked some kind bloke to help.. much to ex's annoyance.

I have a pic somwhere of me rowing after the engine on the boat OH hired *for my birthday* ran out of fuel. He has a bad back and I like rowing, but we did get some looks.

I like the beer one - I would like to think that she is carrying the crate because that is her share of the beer

That's exactly what I thought :D

It's quite a good picture actually, especially with the two of them holding hands... needs a caption, like a thinking bubble coming out her head saying 'how on earth does he manage through the week with that tiny amount of beer'...

We did something similar a couple of years ago in Centre Parcs, I was very pregnant with DS, about 8 months I think, and we hired bikes, one of which had the trailer on the back for two little ones. I rode the bike towing the trailer, with two kids on board whilst OH cycled ahead. Thing is, I can't remember why it ended up like that? :? Maybe I should enter him in the husband of the year competition too?

The stories that you guys are coming out with are hysterical

I think I must have been about 7/8 months pregnant and the mattress on our king sixe bed needed turning. I got fed up of nagging OH to do it and ended up doing it myself

My OH is pretty good and we share most jobs, but i also remember being 8 mnths pregnant and helping him to carry in a really heavy coffee table with a slate top. He also has no concept of how tired i have been before my thyroid problem was diagnosed and he expected me to be instantly cured when i took the first tablet
