Snowy
OH has been saying for a while 'definitely no more chickens ...' so when Beryl died I was resigned to waiting a bit longer to replace her as I really wanted 2 more. Anyway, when he said over breakfast 'so when are you getting another chicken then?' you couldn't see me for dust! I also happened to know that Merrydale had a new delivery of hybrids yesterday so I just had to strike whilst the iron was hot! Anyway, here is Sugar (Merrydale Snowbell, or White Star): And here is Spice (Merrydale Pied or Pied Suffolk): It is definitely easier to introduce two to nine! I don't even think the older girls have noticed there are two strangers in their midst yet!
ubereglu
Aww, they're lovely. How old are they?
surferdog
Aaaah! Spice looks just like my Sylvie (full name Quicksilver the Surfer chicken - don't ask DS2 named her!) She is absolutely beautiful now that all her 'red bits' have grown in. She looks very elegant but she's completely bonkers.
chocchick
They're lovely, especially Sugar, I like white chickens.
Phosphorus
Gorgeous - I love White Stars and the Pied Sulfolk is lovely too. I wish you hadn't said introducing 2 to 9 was easier - I was just dreaming today of how I will ever get a blue egg layer (as you do ) and thinking it would be too hard to get another 2 at some point and add to 7 - now I am rethinking

Ain't Nobody Here
They're beautiful - lovely contrast . My Molly is a Pied Suffolk but only has tiny bits of white round her neck - I'm wondering if she actually is one .
LisaP
They're lovely and look very similar to our 2 new ones - a Silver Nova and an Amber Nova from Eden in Hampshire - just slightly different breed names I think I loved the look of the chickens on the Merrydale website but unfortunately it was just a bit too far for us to go I will be posting pics of ours too and updating my signature once I can get DD to um, assist me Lisa P

Snowy
Thanks all! Bertie - they have most things at the moment, the delivery was yesterday, but going quickly! No blue egg layers though. Seems there is a shortage at the moment. Loopyloo - I was thinking of your Sugar and Cocoa I admit when I named them! ANH - I picked her because she had such distinct markings. There were a couple in the pen who were nearly all black, plus all shades in between. Must be like the pepperpots - markings vary from bird to bird. They are both perched high up in the run on the branches now. The others are just ignoring them at the moment. When I first brought them home, I let most of the girls out to freerange and just left the two at the bottom of the pecking order in the run with the newbies. Then I gradually let them all back in, one at a time. I don't know if that's why it worked, but all is reasonably harmonious at present! Guest
What beautiful girls Snowy! Lucky, lucky you. Now you've made me wnat some more again - I've got room! Perhaps you could have a word with DH and tell him what to say over breakfast?! (Not that he'd mind me getting some more!) I'm still envious though. The White Star looks beautiful and Sugar is a lovely name. Sugar and Spice make a lovely pair too.
