It started with a home made gate made out of bits of wood and trellis. It fell apart after a while :( .

 

So I bought this .... lovely :D ....

.... Maisie thinks the grass is greener (she's not noticed it's a driveway :roll: )

 

So, how to make the gate higher :think: ? Aha, I know .... :D

Who will win the battle of the ever-expanding gate :?

  • Maisie is sitting on the fence, eyeing up the trellis obstacle which seems to have mysteriously grown in height. She edges along, bobbing as she goes, seemingly getting ready to launch herself into space. When she reaches the end of the gate, there are a few more bobs until she finally takes the plunge, takes one final bob, and launches herself upwards and ...... 5 seconds of furious flapping ensue but no, she can't quite achieve the lift required and has to admit defeat, flapping back down to earth in a very undignified fashion.

Excellant, she looks like a right little monkey!! I think it makes chicken keeping more fun to have a naughty one!! Thankfully we not had any gate jumping YET!! only jumping into the conservatory, going into the kitchen to peck up crumbs the kids have spilt under the table!!!

I love the way you can see them planning to fly. Abbie spends ages going doing that next to the hedge Katy flies into as she has not worked out she needs to fly on the eglu to get closer, and has only managed halfway up the hedge followed by tumbling out..... :(:lol:

That was funny, love the captions!!! But oh dear!!! I had suggested breaking up our lovely garden with some old wrought iron gates my other half bought a few years ago, thinking that the hens would be more contained ... they're not very high ... and all that effort ... may well be in vain!!! OH would not be amused.
