Guest
I thought I should update. I got an email saying she'd been offered to someone else but I was next in line. The lady has given the other person until 3pm to respond. So I might still get her. Of course I've set my heart on her now... Fingers crossed all. The Dogmother
Good luck Pengy. Ours doesn't allow animals at all. It's sad that people grow out of loving their animals, or want to 'trade up', and get rid of the old ones.

Guest
OK I got her! She is beautiful, they apparantly got her from another freecycler and have decided she is too big, they are looking for Silkie bantams - they asked today if anyone knew where they could get some. Funny though they said she was some sort of Brahma and I expected her to be bigger - she is not as big as my light Sussex though - she is a big girl. They also said she would lay an egg for me in the morning - they said she was a really good layer She was living on her own in a nice wooden house/coop. There was another ark nearby and they said there was a chicken in there hatching some eggs. She must have been a bit lonely though. She was very quiet all the way home and has been enjoying pecking the grass in the Eglu run, her previous home was on dirt. They said she destroys plants so I guess they didn't let her out much - I'm not worried, one hen is not going to do more damage to my garden than the other 8 put together. Oh and her name, apparantly her original owners called her Elvis because of the hairdo. They had been calling her Blondie, but I got the impression not very much. Mum wanted a chicken called Clara - so Clara she is. Oh and at 9pm she had put herself to bed in her lonely Eglu. Our other girls had been put in the run before she arrived so she hasn't seen them but first thing tomorrow they will be all around her run. I'll let them spend a few days getting used to each other and put them in together on Saturday - when the garden will be heaving with kids for James' party. Any ideas what breed she is guys? Their original offer said "she is proberly a cross between, im guessing a rhode island red/ brahma she has feathery legs and a quiff on her head but im not sure, "

chelsea
she's very and i love the quiff. She must have some brahma in her because of the feathery feet.
The Dogmother
She's a lovely girl Pengers and a real mixture - I see some legbar in there and either a braham (must be a bantams if she's not massive) or cochin for those fluffy trousers.
