Egluntyne
My neighbour is cutting the hedge, with a very noisy hedge trimmer....and it is 9 minutes past 10 and almost dark. Somehow the noise is very intrusive at this time of the evening. I'm glad I haven't got a baby to rock to sleep.
redhotchick
I've just been out to coax the hens in. I can't believe it's so light! A bit inconsiderate cutting the hedge with a noisy trimmer at this time of night!

janette1954
My neighbour cuts his conifer trees every year just as the little birds are nesting.
Guest
One of our neighbours has just bought a new motorbike. He doesn't seem to take it out, he just waits till Squidger is asleep, then sits in the back garden, revving the engine for an hour.
chelsea
not only rude, but quite dangerous! its almost dark! Hope he doesnt chop off something other than hedge
lisa33
Don't you think a catapult of chicken poo may be useful in these situations. We have a footpath at the back of our garden and the kids race up and down on motorbikes and monkey bikes. The little gate things to stop bikes are right outside our garden. I just want to sit there and flick poo at them as they screech to a halt.
Egluntyne
He's given up now...but it is very dark. I don't know what the Elfnsafety would think.
redhotchick
My neighbour cuts his conifer trees every year just as the little birds are nesting. Your neighbour probably doesn't know better. Would the neighbour be receptive if you were to mention how you like the birds to be around, and suggest a more appropriate time of year to cut the hedge? I'm sure it's illegal to disturb nesting birds.
fionne
Some people are so inconsiderate. We used to have a neighbour who lit smoky bonfires on summer days and last bank holiday we had one who spent the whole day cutting a huge tree down with a chainsaw!!! Started at 9am and finished at 6pm. This was the same person who objects to my hens cackling when they lay an egg!!!!!

Not that I know this person but some people only have those Bank Holidays to get big jobs done. Speakng as someone who works 6 days a week, not back home until at least 6pm at night, I'm probably more than guilty of spending a Bank holiday with the shredder on none stop etc. You wouldn't catch me hedge trimming at that time of night though! Cooks
I think courtesy to your neighbours goes a long way... cutting a hedge at this time of night is not enhancing that really no-one minds if people have to get jobs done because of work commitments etc taking up their time, however these should be carried out at sensible times. Also... *ahem* if they see you have washing out dont start a fire or bbq before warning you first!..
craftyhunnypie
Get a cockerel eglutine! Annoying neighbours noise. Ours has a gardener that has a wonky jet wash & an extremely loud garden blower. He comes at very strange times. Emma.x
Helly Welly
The kids up the road started bouncing on the trampoline at 12:50am last night That infernal creaking of trampoline springs will be the death of me

Valkyrie
Are you sure it was the kids and not the parents (while the kids were at a sleepover), Helly Welly!?
Snowy
Are you sure it was the kids and not the parents (while the kids were at a sleepover), Helly Welly!? That sounds as though you may be a tad familiar with adult trampolining while the kids are out of the way Koojie!
Egluntyne
Maybe it is the fox or a passing badger. There was a story on Look North the other day about a staffie who used to trampoline jump over the hedge and disappear for days.
Valkyrie
I wish Snowy!! I fear with my weight there would be no squeak at all, apart from whatever may have been under the trampoline at the time! We did have a little trampoline donated by a neighbour - but the rabbit liked it best!
The Dogmother
We had some 'sorts' in the garden that backs onto ours using a very noisy circular saw at 11.10pm the other night. Went on for gaes, so as any antisocial noise is illegal after 11pm, I called the council the next day.... that road is all council houses. Lisa33, those mini-motos/monkey bikes are illegal unless ridden on private land. They are subject to the same laws as regular motorbikes and should be ridden with helmets, full tax and insurance and a drivers licence. There were similar problems locally here and the rozzers rounded them all up and confiscated the lot! I'm generally not bothered about most daytime noise, but I hate disturbances at night. Snowy
Well I am gong to 'fess up to having had a letter from the council about us creating excessive noise with my sons drumming Normally he can't be heard too much - we are detached, he only plays when I think most people are out, ie mid afternoon, and usually the windows are all shut. However, a couple of times he played with his bedroom window open (on the hottest days he still works up a sweat despite a good ceiling fan) and it was rather loud at the front of the house. To be honest, I have spoken to most of our neighbours about it and said we will be happy to tone it down if it is too intrusive, but no one has been to us. Oh well, he'll just have to sweat it out in future! I did panic for a moment when I opened the letter - I thought someone had complained about the chickens! chickencam
The police in our area have started racing past with sirens blazing at 10pm and later I am glad I don't have little ones any more At one time you never heard a siren after 9pm
