abwsco
Gone to let the girls out for free ranging this morning and found Brandine dead on the coop floor Poor love, but at least like Lurleen she had her last day out enjoying the sunshine. stoice
Poor loves. Poor you. At least they felt the sun on their backs, saw the sky and had a chance to do chickeny things. How sad.
abwsco
Gosh. Wat a run of bad luck. I am sorry. I wonder if the hot weather is stressing them? I did wonder about the heat but Brandine had showed no signs of being ill at all. We've another one who looks a bit off colour as well I wonder if they were nearer 2 when they were rescued as I've heard that sometimes they can be. I know we were lucky in that we had three months with them trashing the garden and enjoying the sun, wind and rain.

sparkysmum
So sad, but as someone else said you gave them a wonderful home for their last few months. They had a great time and were able to use all their instinctive behaviours which they wouldn't have had a chance to do without you. Sending positive thoughts. Abbey Road Girl
I had a Jack Russell in (totally inhumane) quarrantine but the very instant she was freed (after six months of being utterly maddened--would climb up to the top of my head), she reverted to being her happy normal self. Brandine would have experienced something similar with you. She was free and happy because you rescued her from torment and allowed her to experience her proper birthright. The loss of Brandine isn't an unhappy ending (though I know that you will miss her), but more like Shakespeare's very peaceful "our revels now are ended...".
