Guest
...turned out perfect. Perhaps a little dry...my son insisted it needed a lot of cream! ... exactly what I said. does anyone know how to make it less dry? I was surprised it was dry, considering the amount of oil in there I'm going to add choccie chips next time but then, won't they sink to the bottom? Failing that, lots of real cream or ice cream I think
The Dogmother
Try adding some syrup to make it treacly
Lesley
I made it today and added chopped white chocolate - they did all sink to the bottom! I had to slice it lengthways I cooked it at 900W for 2 mins 50 secs. and it wasn't dry at all.

Guest
thanks clare...i think i'll try grating some chocolate into it (so it doesn't sink) and try it for less time and see how it goes.
..lay a little egg for me
I seem to remember from domestic science lessons a loooong time ago, that a large amount of eggs make a cake dry. I don't know how much the flour etc weighs but I think the proportion of egg is quite high. I was wondering whether brown sugar would be better than white as I know that when baking cookies you need to use brown sugar to make them less crisp...or maybe we could try adding beetroot as HFW did to his brownies last night!!! Guest
didn't that beetroot ice cream look incredible! I bet it tasted lovely too
Omletina Kyckling
Only problem is that we are a family of 3 and dividing it by 3 might be a bit mean on quantities...would doubling it be just too decadent do you think??!! I don't think I must know the meaning of the word decadent because I think that it sounds like a super duper idea!! Go for it!
Chicken Licken
I have only just found this recipe - I did not need a chocolate cake at almost 10pm - but it was toooo tempting and now the house smells all chocolatey too - feeling a little bit sick and heading for bed now - what a wonderful recipe Omletina - well done you
Chook n Boo Mum
My DD made it during the week for the builders (who happen to be friends too!! Very good friends now they know she can make cakes like me... ) They are all very impressed, K because she can do it on her own & the men because she shared it with them!! We make it in a pudding bowl so it's easier to portion out. One mix does a reasonable slice each for 4. Must work out the WW points per mix ........ Got some ground almonds yesterday, will try a mix using them later , will report back! Sha xx
..lay a little egg for me
Omletina: I blame you entirely for the fact that I have eaten chocolate cake every day last week (admittedly my DS egged me on asking "can you make me a chocolate mug cake?") but really... Omletina Kyckling
Hee hee heee......nice to know I've led so many astray.....I've been astray for so long I've forgoten the way back!
Chook n Boo Mum
Well, I've tried the recipe with ground almonds instead of cocoa, and a handful of flaked almonds in place of the choc chips.....and it's yummy !!!! It may need a little longer than the choc recipes as it's a bit moister. I think we are all as bad as one another for being so easily led to the yummy side of life, although Omletina I don't actually need any encouragement thank you very much Sha x
Lesley
I made two today - I had a surprise visit from Claret and Rosie and Rosie's friend - I had Lauren and Jake here for the day and my son was here working....... just the day for warm cake! I didn't have time to add any chocolate and it was slightly on the dry side but still welcome after the cold rain we'd just been out in. ..lay a little egg for me
My girl cat loves the baking cases off muffins or fairy cakes. Also spotted eating the bread crusts that were sitting in a bowl waiting to go out to the chickens (and some rice). Doesn't she know she is a carnivore? You've just reminded me - I wish I'd had a camera the other day.......I'd tipped some old cereals into the egg collecting bucket for the hens.....I turned round from doing something else to find Jake( and Jazz(dog) both with their chops covered in cereals and a guilty look on their faces nothing to do with chocolate cake.....sorry

IrishM
My 7 months pregnant wife insisted that I thank you for posting this recipe... She has been enjoying this frequently over the last month! It is outstanding! Thanks! Mark
Chook n Boo Mum
The babe will either love or hate chocolate cake when it arrives! Most people I know hate whatever their mum craved/pigged out on during their pregnancy - my two both love brussels pate (before I knew I was expecting I ate tons of the stuff - both times!) and potatoes, but really aren't bothered by doughnuts....explain that if you can! Good luck with the next few weeks and let us know when "littlie" arrives, we love a baby story! Sha x
