Lesley
Did anyone else watch Countdown yesterday? - and were able to work out the first numbers? I do beat Carol on the numbers sometimes - but she usually comes back later in the programme to say that she has worked it out...........yesterday, she didn't The numbers were.......... 100 - 6 - 7 - 1 - 2 - 1 - and the total = 723 Your 30 seconds start now............... .......and I'll probably find out that I've used the same number twice
AmandaR
Nope. The closest I can get is 724. This is going to be annoying me all day now.

Guest
I just know I'm going to be embarrased about this - but I think I've done it and I think it is quite easy. I clearly haven't woken up properly yet. Going to PM you Lesley!
Angels4
I would generally let something like this bother me, and I would spend a great deal of time trying to figure it out, BUT as I haven't a clue what "Countdown" is I'll leave you all to it. Guest
Using the numbers given only once each you have to make the total (723) You don't have to use all the numbers. You can add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Guest
Lesley - I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for your reply. Has anyone else done it? Christian, would you be able to check my answer for me?
Christian
You sure Ginette? Will ask OH to check if you pm me.
Richard T
I think I've done it. (Took me longer than 30 seconds tho'.) I'll PM you my solution Ginette. Richard T
Guest
Well Richard and I agree, so I'm feeling better. Might be able to get on with something now, rather than sit here waiting!
Guest
And we agree with Christian's OH too! I love Countdown numbers! I'm finding it very hard to believe Carol couldn't do it. She must surely have been having a very bad day?
..lay a little egg for me
Nope...however hard I try I can only get 724...what am I missing?

..lay a little egg for me
Finally got it with Ginette's help (thanks, Ginette). Clearly, the sum is easy if you look at it the right way, but not if you're 'numerically challenged' like me but it is surprising that Carol didn't get it. Especially as I've heard that when they record Countdown, they stop recording to let her work it out... (may just be a vicious rumour though). Sheilaz
The numbers were.......... 100 - 6 - 7 - 1 - 2 - 1 - and the total = 723 Well, I've worked it out in less than 30 secs, unless I've done something wrong....Have only read your 1st post, so off to read the rest now... ...I love Countdown, esp. the numbers (but rarely get the conundrum!) but have missed watching it for ages. Surprising then that Carol didn't get it with those numbers! May I pm someone to see if I was right, & I promise I wasn't cheating! PMs to Christian & Ginette! Guest
I just know I'm going to be embarrased about this - but I think I've done it and I think it is quite easy. I clearly haven't woken up properly yet. Going to PM you Lesley! Just saying I wasn't wrong. Several people have done it the same way. And it is easy and I still can't understand why Carol couldn't do it. She manages some amazingly complex manipulations and this one is obvious and straightforward. (no insults intended to those who are still struggling!)

stoice
Someone put me out of my misery please! I couldn't do it either - maths is not my strong point. closest i got was 722. Christian
The Answer is here if you want it - 6 divided by 2 = 3, plus 100 = 103, x 7 = 721, then plus 1 + 1 = 723.

Lesley
Sorry!!! - I couldn't get back any earlier........ Thanks to Christian for putting you all out of your misery I've spent the whole afternoon having hot flushes , wondering if I'd made a fool of myself and used numbers twice I really don't know why Carol couldn't get it....I was waiting for her to say "...if you make the 3 using......" I could be happy just having the whole show as numbers as well Janty!
