Just got home to find that Teasel, our lovely Marans who we inherited a couple of weeks ago had got herself caught in the Omlet netting and has died. I think she must have panicked and either completely exhausted herself or broken her neck. She'd managed to get both wings through the holes. There are no other signs on her to suggest anything else might have been involved. I feel really upset - she wasn't terribly cold and if I'd come straight home from school instead of going somewhere else she might still be alive. She'd only been with us such a short time after our friends had a stoat problem and she was really friendly and lovely.

Coincidently, I had an omlet netting incident yesterday when one of my cochins got her head stuck in it, she was panicking and I rushed to free her but she managed to wiggle herself free.

That is certainly very sad news... but as others have said you should blame youself.

 

I would certainly contact Omlet about it, I'm sure they would want to know if a product they are selling is harming chickens.

very sad and hard on you, but I have to say I dont think it is a case of the omlet netting harming chickens. that type of netting is widely available, and recommended for chickens to keep them in a safer area. I think she and you were both very unlucky.
