Janty
Poor Holly, one of our ex-batts has spent the last three nights in our conservatory all snuggled up in a towel. She isn't ill - just old. She can't make the ladder of the cube any more. She is eating but then she falls asleep and falls over. She isn't in pain at all so that's a blessing but it's so sad. She is outside enjoying a bit of freedom at the moment but an hour is usually all she can manage. She fell asleep on my lap last night all snuggled up in her towel. Hubby has been feeding her mealworms and sweetcorn which she has gobbled down at the rate of knots! She has had 11 months and 1 day of freedom so far so that's got to be a bonus. alexgirl73
Bless her! I have one who is very similar, and it brings a tear to the eye to see them slow down so much, but the freedom she has had this last year of her life should be a source of joy to you. Hope she hangs about for a bit longer xx

Carol U
She sounds as if she's having a very happy old age Janty, with all the love and attention she could wish for. If only all ex-batts could end their days in such a wonderful home. I do hope she continues for a while yet.

Janty
She is still going although I can't say strong. She is still sleeping in the conservatory at night with short spells outside during the day. She only lasted 15 minutes outside today before she fell over and couldn't move so hubby brought her in and fed her half a tin of mackerel. She has perked up a lot now and has had a little wander over to the cat and back. She then fell asleep though so it's obviously tiring for her. We are going to talk tonight about plans for going to the vets if her quality of life is compromised more.
Janty
Holly has just died in my arms. I snuggled her up in a blanket on my knee and called the vet to have her put to sleep. While I was waiting for the vet to call me back she died.
