Cate in NZ
Finally, today I'm sporting a self-satisfied smile as I completed my Christmas shopping today, then came home and gift wrapped the lot . Just a spot of food shopping on Christmas Eve and I'll be done, all ready to enjoy a wonderful, warm Christmas . Just thought though that I'm probably not the only one making a final onslaught on the shops this weekend, so I'm wishing you all the best, I hope you all find what you want at the prices that you want to pay, and that your final Christmas preparations all go smoothly. I'm going to be loging off good and proper very soon as my energies get focussed towards our house move and then Christmas, so just in case I don't manage to log on again before the big day I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas, and that Father Christmas brings you everything you ever wanted. Merry Christmas to you all
Seagazer
Good luck with your move Cate and have a very happy Christmas. I hope it all goes smoothly. Your new house just looks fantastic and I'm sure you will have many happy years there. I'm off to Waitrose in Dartford (I think you used to live near there) - thankfully its never too busy ). Cate in NZ
Oh yes, I'm an ex-Dartford resident, I know Waitrose there very well indeed . It's small but has pretty much everything you need there and it was never as busy as some of the other supermarkets . Happy shopping
Seagazer
All the other supermarkets are so busy its quite a relief to get in there. I think there is usually only one other person in front - how they make enough money to stay open I don't know. Its great this weekend as my DD came home from France last night so at least for now I have a full house. She's off to her boyfriend's later though. Egluntyne
I went shopping at 7am yesterday. There were 4 customers in the store. I shall do the same early next week to get the big spree out of the way. Just my tree to put up now and a couple of presents to get. Nearly there. Chickvic
Still got to shop for food but I'm not too bothered, although it always amazes me that people suddenly rush out and bulk buy everything they can get their hands on

I don't think I've ever been this chilled at Christmas before. I'm going to spend the day sawing wood and playing with chickens! Very best wishes for the move, Cate - what a year you have had. I've just got cards to write (just a bit last minute! ) and pressies to wrap (not easy with the sprogs around). If there is anything missing now it's tough! fowlbird
have a relaxed and well planned move, Cate! bought two more stocking filler chocolate oranges to replace the two I bought and ate last week asked older grandson, "When it comes to chocolate oranges do you prefer orange or mint?" Answer: "When it comes to chocolate oranges I don't care if it's orange or mint as long as it's not hazelnut..." that's the attitude I love! in previous year OH has always eaten the nuts as I buy them so this year he's in charge of nut supplies... amazingly enough supplies are building fast but only walnuts as long as we have nuts, fruit and loads of Coke I'm content
Lesley
Hope the house move goes well Cate - and a Happy Christmas to you as well I've been to the Farmers' Market this morning and finished the shopping. If we haven't got it now then we can't have it Most things we need are in date until after Christmas so no need for last minute shopping. Just a couple of presents to wrap and some biscuits, pate and trifle to make on Tuesday. I think Carl is planning to make a pork pie.....so he'd better start boiling his trotters now

jlo
My cooker was fitted today and I am very very happy! We have got on ok without an oven for about six weeks now but it's great to have one back. The chap who fitted it was really good and he has sorted out the work top round it. So - tonight - friends coming round for a Strictly Viewing party. (Infact, better get on with preparing nibbles!) Tomorrow morning, we will be at the local church for Nine Lessons and carols. It is one of the smallest churches in the world and very intimate. The children will be reading - it is the sixth time they have done it and they are not too happy about it! Waitrose delivery arriving tomorrow - hopefully. That should be everything done but I am bound to have forgotten something. OH's brother and new girlfriend coming round tomorrow afternoon. Relaxing tomorrow evening.

Bought my sisters dog Peggs a toy that looks like a pair of lips. & some treats for mums dogs. Need something for Lilly Parrot. My avon lady just called with some choccies for me - for helping her hatch some chicks. They look gorgeous choccies!! We have a disc on that hubby has made with about 6 different CD's on it. We are just into the cheesy 70's stuff! On the wine & a bit of Xmas cake - then going to see if there are any Christmassy movies on the telly. Oh & I shall watch Nigella on BBC iplayer. Been playing with the Button & Bingo my chicks - who were dustbathing in the brooder. Just relaxing really! It's lovely & it's hubby's turn to do the chickens in the morning. Seagazer
OH and I had this great plan that he would go to Bluewater today on his motorbike, DD's ring that we bought in October has suddenly lost a sapphire so that I wouldn't have to go anywhere near - its such a pain to park unless you are really early. Well ES's girlfriend stayed over last night and needs a lift to work in Bluewater...... if I'm not back in 3 hours send out a search party! Mrs Webmuppet
We had Christmas dinner with my Dad and Step Mum today. They came down for the day to deliver and collect pressies. I gave them a big box of homemade goodies.....Christmas pud, cake, cheese straws, chocolate brownies, jams & chutneys........Step Mum was most impressed (she always claims to be a hopeless cook).Unfortunately forgot to take a pic.....
