Nicola O
Following on from my 'Fate Has Smiled On Me' thread the other week.....remember the one where I was talking to a customer at work who happened to run a poultry/egg production farm and had some birds he wanted to sell, and he offered me as many as I wanted...for free !! Well, I collected four Orpingtons last week - and here they are.... Blue Orp - busy checking what's on the menu Jubilee Orp - next in the queue Splash Orp and a little Buff Orp He said they were all about six months, but the jubilee and buff must be younger as they are smaller. None of them have developed face furniture yet, and I'm praying that they are all girls . No names yet, Mum recons I should give them all boys names and assume they are boys, then I won't be too disappointed if any of them turn out to be boys . It was just sheer chance that I dealt with this customer - so Four Chickens of Fate !!!! Nicola

Janty
When I was reading about Jubilee Orps, I read that they were smaller than you would normally expect orps to be.

Falkor
They are LOVELY! I have a buff, splash and a jubilee orp and the Jubilee was much smaller than the other two when they arrived in November and the Splash was bigger than the buff. However they are evening out now and are all much bigger! (it is all feather ) All three of mine are 22 weeks and none have much face furniture although their itty butty wattles are going redder! Orps are lovely, you will love them and they will love their lovely !

Chook n Boo Mum
Blue Orp - busy checking what's on the menu Splash Orp Do their colours develop as they get older? My adopted Blues & Splashes are much darker They are about 10 months old now, but then again they are probably like us with hair colour, no two the absolute same. Your blue looks like my Bluebell - but bigger! Congratulations , lovely birds, though not many people realise there are different colours to be had, if I had a pound for every time someone's said "Oh a Buff Orp, how lovely!"....... Your blue looks like my Bluebell - but bigger! Sha x The Blue is a bit darker than she looks in the picture - the flash came on so it's shining on her feathers and making her look a bit lighter. I wonder if my Splash will develop more darker feathers like yours - they are gorgeous. Nicola
abwsco
They are gorgoeus Oh to have a bigger garden so we could have some orps.
puffball
Aawwwwh!! They are all v.cute! I haven't seen a jubilee orp before or a splash orp before but they sure are pretty! Your little buff looks similar to Chick who I hatched this summer, her comb isn't developed yet either so I wonder if it's an orp thing...? Daphne
You lucky lucky person They look fabulous, and how nice to have one of each. Jubes are generally smaller (they've not had the same breeding efforts put into them as other colours) but I think you're right, the jubilee does look younger; can't quite see with the buff - I presume the buff is a Large not a bantam? Your splash probably won't darken much, tho you may get some different patterning of light/dark after the moult. Oddly the jube may get more white after the moult! Blues can made from different breeding lines, and so variation in colour across different birds is quite normal. Now, both you and Wild Mum have made me very envious (but lovely pictures from you both) so I'm going off to inspect my girls!
